Hey guys, im not much of a modder, and havent really bothered to customise rf, however tbh im getting kinda sick of the std maps, and am looking for a change. hoping you guys could help me out by sharing some of the mostpopular mod maps to date

id say the most popular with people of your type is myth. 
Try looking in the red faction section http://www.levels4you.com/sections/redfaction/
ISM is something a lot of people still play, basicly counter strike for red faction, not at all bad  |

ism aint a map its a total conversion new wepons, new sounds, new everything, pretty sweet, im stoned and ill atm so i cant be bothered to find u a like for it sorry man.lazy i know |

It seems to me that you are looking for custom maps (they aren't called "mod maps"), to play in addition or instead of the stocks. I recommend you just have a look in the server list for what non-stock maps servers tend to run, write notes and search for the maps here.
ISM, Hive and all those can be thought of as different games. They won't let you play on normal RF servers. |

And if you do mean custom maps the top 5 would be WW2 , and the rest microfactions that is according to the ones i see most played |
