Yo every1,
I want to start a cdc (Keep RF alive) but thats not the thing i want to say...Most off you guys say to a new mapper: "GJ man, if every1 is going to be a mapper like this, RF will be alive again" or something like that. But thats not true, You actually have to PLAY red faction in multi to keep it alive, not making maps. Its true, mapping is fun ,but dont think you will keep RF alive if you map, you arent...
Stupid THQ wants to put more money in tere spongebob and Hotweels games then in Red Faction (BLOOD WILL RISE )...But if they would make a spongebob game where you can blow each others head off, thats ok then. But it isnt....
I just wanted to say this cuz i think its important... Thx for reading this

I both agree and disagree
I agree with people playing RF will keep it alive but on the other hand mapping brings new elements into the game (well sometimes anyway ). think maps like the deathruns although they dont seem to be very popular they still were new and for the people who liked it, it allowed them to play RF more as now the could play DM or CTF or they could choose to play the deathruns. (I am also aware that mods have the same effect as this but they require more than just putting in the multi folder so are not as easily accessable.) and also normal RF custom maps keep RF from being stale with the same maps again and again not that the regualr maps are bad |
P.S. Still Alive. |

The Ultor Flag is sailing proudly outside my house on Mars. I don't see me flying it at half-mast for a good while yet |

I don't see RF dying that soon. I know of plenty of people who play, and the only times I see a problem with the player level is when I skip school (but then again, you shouldn't expect to see a lot of players during a monday morning/afternoon).
It is true that people don't play custom maps anymore, but that is to be expected. Many people (surprisingly) don't know about sites like l4y and rfv (red faciton view), so they don't have any idea of where to get custom maps. It took me almost 2 months just to learn of where to get the WWII map (many sites I was referred to didn't host it).
Thus, the only logical way to get people to play custom maps is to tell them of this site (www.levels4you.com, in case you're some noob who doesn't know the best RF site ever). Then we'd have to get more people to play (just play other games and tell people about it (but don't be annoying about it, I've already seen people in sf telling me about some other game and they were just censored about it, so it turned me off of that game. So be kind and gentle to others). We could all pitch in and host an l4y banner and a rf banner on our sites (most of us have our own websites). Also, who here doesn't have a blog? Blog about RF until your fingers bleed. blogger.com has an easy to use site, and people can use "referrals" to link to your blog. Thus, you'll attract a whole new level of serious gamers (and possibly cheaters, but then you can blog about the glory that is lazyban).
PS I don't use blogger.com, but I use spymac.com a free forum, 1 gb mail host, webhost and blog site. I'm too lazy to import my blogs into blogger.com, so I just kept my spymac blog. |
