can it be done??? i know RED has its own way of telling what music to loop, but can you? i know how to use a keyframe with a rotating brush, and how to set an event, but i have a very short wav file, that i need to play constantly, and be heard throughout the "whole" map.(not just near the keyframe) ive even gone so far as to make a HUGE (300x300x100) brush to cover the whole map and a trigger to match the prob is, that as you get further away from the center of the brush. the sound starts to get distant. not too bad, but not the effect im looking for.
any help????
Using RED on a PC I doubt that you can make a non compatible pc version. RED_JUSTICE you just need to add your sounds in a different way. They still won't be able to hear the sounds but other with a PC would. I think that Red Faction on MACs can't can't play .wav files. So you can either try it another way like I did in NC-WasteLand and you will get a looping sound for PC users. At the same time it won't crash MAC users but like stated above, they won't hear the sounds. They can only hear the ingame default sounds.
When_Dead = default
Cyclic_Timer = set time to length of wav file, then tick "send forever".
Play_Sound = put in the filename, set the duration at same length as in Cyclic_Timer, tick "looping".
Put the wav file in its own vpp, and this will work for Mac players, but they can't hear it. At least the map won't crash on them. You will hear the sound at same strength all over the map.
If you use a keyframe and trigger, the sound will always fade out as you move away from the keyframe.
A common mistake people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
this one i havnt tried yet,
the custom looping for red always freezes up my pc i dont get it. i run the map, and as it starts up i hear the audio begin, but never get off the red screen with the hand holding the pick.
EDIT: thanks. the cylic timer way works great
