The light object function is weird in RED sometimes it never works no matter wha I do , sometimes everything just goes black, Ive selected view textures and light and rendered everything, but the light allways acts weird, most times it never works. why? |

Quoting Kiliad | I think this needs further explaining.
Some people use the pull down menus to do their light calculations even after being told to use the key presses. Forget it, its not the same.
There is a bug in the editor which stops the menu options for light calculation from working properly. That's why you have to use the following keys:
W <-- Hides all objects
Shift-L <-- Unhides all objects
L <-- Remove lights
Shift-L. <-- Recalculate lights |
Sorry, couldn't find Frank's famous post about the topic.
Lace, why haven't you answered. |

This is the routine you must carry out before you goin to view your map. It builds and renders everything ready to save...
1. Build (Space Bar)
2. Press W (which hides all your objects)
3. Press Shift+W (which unhides all your objects)
4. Press L
5. Then Shift+L (to calculate lightmaps and lighting)
6. Then Save to your C:/Games/Red Faction/User Maps/Multi folder (Using DM_level name or DM-level name)
7. File ------>Create Level Packfile.
8. Run your map, either through F7 mode or go through Red Faction, Multi. |

Pressing W, shift+W, L, shift+L, SHOULD work, there should be no reason why it wouldn't |

Select All Lights
Ctrl+C
Delete
L
Ctrl+V
Shift+L |
