Most of the time UV unwrapping will make your texturing more noticable.. Its a good thing to be able to do

It was on my Portal Page, so I replied to it. Weird that the last reply was in March.
Oh now I remember. It wasn't the Portal Page, I saw someone viewing it on the Who's Online page, so I assumed it was a current thread. Oh well, that should be off the RF Hot Topics in a week or two
At times I find it easier to not even use the UV unrap tool, but by selecting textures and rotating or moving them(rotate=r+arrowkeys)
(move=m+arrowkeys}
Yeah, this technique works really well most of the times on textures that are really hard to UV unwrap, like Doors. The makers for Redfaction, or the mappers who made all of the default maps were really good at UV unwrapping.
I would make sure my Textures are the correct sizes... I always create textures that have to be 256x256 or 512x512. You would usually find that any textures that are not the correct size, You get a black outline on your picture. When you UVwrap the image, it looks normal on that area, but when the texture is applied to the brush, you will find your image abit off line or has a black outline on it. This is due to the wrong size texture.
