well im glad to help the ppl who r trying to use cutscenes heres the story to my method.
one day i noticed that alot of ppl r having trouble trying to bring up the props of a cutscene and im like "y is it so hard?" so i made a test map and put a cutscene and hit the props and it crashed, im like CENSORED and so i tried and tried again (bout 15 times) and it kept crashing and now i said how did the RF team made RF with cutscenes? so later on i went to different sites redtech, rfview, etc. and found different methods but they were all too long and like 7 to 10 steps and if u mess up then its back to sart and i said bs theres got to be a simple way not this crazy long easy to mess up method (no offense method founders) and so i tried different things till i found this! the fastest simplest method and now i made a new map with a test cutscene and i just submmited it its nothing big but its kinda cool but u'll need ISM 1.1 to work it. |

I want to make cutscenes that show parker running past some barrels that explode while bieng follwed by mercs and then when the mercs go past the barrels "BOOM!" and we hear their horrible screams of shock and pain. If i dont succeed in this RED-FROG,Ska-Diesel,MadFerrit or any other pro mapper or a mapper who no,s cutscenes like the back of his hand will succeed, maybe. |

Cutscenes crash alot for me aswell.. but if you keep trying you will eventually succeed.
A good tip that i can share, I noticed it was not mentioned here... If you are having alot of trouble getting into the Cutscene Properties while trying other methods.. Just create a few air box brushes outside of your map and render that.. and copy and paste it 2 or 3 times.. that worked a charm for me, when everything else failed. |

The most succes you'll get by pressing space only, followed by a fly around the map, before going into the properties the 3D viewport should view as much as possible of the map.
Zoom the 2D views in, while they are showing the whole map they could take too much performance
Thats not a magically trick..but it worked for me most times. Just keep trying..and trying.
I think RED needs to know how the map looks like, and needs all textures and meshes loaded before cutscene can work. Just a thought, tough.
Always make sure you save your work before using cutscene.
When testing levels, or editing small stuff on maps, try keep open cutscenes properties, so you don't have to open it again.
Cutscenes should been made on early level versions. That means they shouldn't be full detailed.
Perhaps it helps to Group most of the objects, save them on the harddrive, remove them from the map and then later loading them up again if it wasn't possible to open cutscene even after the 20th try. |

Im really stupid with Cutscenes and i dont know anything of them, how do i exactly make A custom Cutscene ? i saw the tutorial on r e d t e c h
by GTA and the other one but i dont get it very well because red keeps crashing, allso with the trick of ezar and D2K... i wanted to make something like REDSUCKS, but not comedy, more some little action movie. Nothing special, just a try to get those skills up. |

first thing you want to do is place the cutscene event.. and a cutscene camera.
the next step is to open the cutscene event properties (which most will tell you is not a picnic)
Once the properties are open you are laughing, you want to place 4 cutscene path nodes in the map and select them in the order you want the camera to move and go to edit path, from here on out its basically all common sense.. just put the path name, the travel time and the cutscene camera uid number into the properties, plus the uid of the target or clutter you want the camera to look at.
Its weird though, the REDSUCKS cutscenes were all stationary shots, the ones i have managed to get working have always been moving shots. |

the reason why all of REDSUCKS shots were stationary, was because me and tico really didnt want to put up with the cutscenes that much. (that and we got lazy ) but REDSUCKS episode 2 will be sure to please you guys
anaways, i have been trying to get my recent cutscene working and this is about the 100th time (no joke) and im trying every method i can think of and its just not working...
im going to look into it farther and see what i can come up with... |

Do what RED-FROG said. Try hiding every object [all of them] ... and any brushes that are not in the scene. Select the event from group mode. Then do your preferred method [from whatever mode]. |
If I ever get to where I am going, will I know when I am there? |

it isnt suposed to move, just view some people, do i have to open properties for that ? |

Sobe if you are still around. I lost your cutscene mod. You came up with it when I was in the middle of changing servers, and I just can't find it anywhere. If you could post it again that would be great. It worked first time, everytime. |
