I recently got this : http://morrowindoverhaul.rpgitalia.net/ ... and now i wonder is it possible to do the same with Red Faction ? Any ideas on how to go about overhauling the graphics of Red Faction ? |

I was working on this exact thing a little while ago - got a bunch of static meshes and textures done but lost interest. A community of <100 people isn't really worth the required time. |

would probably be easier to build Redfaction from scratch instead of trying to hack the game and import the code.
Has anybody tried anything like this before?
If so has anybody tried it on source? |

There was an RF Source mod not too long ago, it's dead though.
Legality is the main reason I haven't already done this. |

Red Faction: Source
It didn't get very far. They only got Warlords half done and a precision rifle skin done (reskin of a CS:S gun) as far as I know. |

It's like saying "I watch a lot of TV so I'm not going to use a HDTV."
Improved Graphics... well its better to look at... Why do you think Graphics cards advance so much, Not so we can get 3000 FPS on a ancient old game and call are self experienced because we can gain a extra 2 if we turn graphics down. No, people like better quality. The experienced players you speak of aren't playing this game any-more, they are long gone. There spending allot of money on building PC's, playing the latest games, looking for the next big challenge.
Now physics? I doubt RF would ever have this. it would have to be completely redesigned from every angle but imagine playing HL2 without physics, it wouldn't feel as good.
Add it back in and you get an amazing realism feel + fun and a garrys mod.
Lastly, it is worth it, RF is a classic and we wouldn't be discussing it, if it wasn't worth it nor would you be here. |
