RF is in bad torment for sure, probably movie/tv series also canceled...
Is really sad, because THQ invest a lot in the series with the last engine. RF will return again in shadow for few years.

I will just never understand why they never make a least a damn option to enable FPV...
It will probably never happen, but by seeing what happen to the franchise, why not give opportunity to indie developer to use there engine like UDK, Unity... have full right even on texture, model & past story to speed process, let the community continue the making of RF franchise with royalties... Why not? Starting with a remake of the first one and if things go well continue in new frontier. If it happen, I will make a new topic & meeting with L4Y member to start a new online indie studio, unification will be stronger, faster & more enjoyable project

I didnt play Armageddon, again i dont understand why they decide to remove multiplayer in this kind of game, except the fact that they respond to the new Guerrilla console third person community where multiplayer hadn't make spark... Why you was sure armageddon was so bad or not well received to kill what left to the brand?
Maybe a real true First Person sequel will come back one day,

I for one am thrilled. No more will I have to worry about just how badly Volition will butcher the legacy of their only good game since Freespace.
Personally I hope Volition is dissolved and Valve or Epic buys up their technology and IPs.
Valve I feel would be suitable to continue the series (with editing tools of course). While Epic might not continue the RF franchise itself, they would almost certainly merge the technology into the UDK. |

Oh well I guess I am still playing a dead game. LOL 
The players that I play with must be ghosts? 
No wonder one of them is known as "Grim Reaper". He must have killed them all. 
Time to play the waiting game until Armageddon is at a very very low price, no point in having only 3 of them when THQ had the nerve to make 4. Maybe in September 2011? 
I guess this ends the arguments of whether or not this game is really dead. It's official now. THQ was the only one that could have done that. They tried killing it before when they didn't renew the trackers domain and failed THANKS to Rol_K we are able to play this game in it's after life. 
Thanks you all for the great memories in Red Faction. Mostly all good with a few bad ones (in the forums not in the game).

Its a shame they ruined the Franchise. I played the demo, it was alright, but just another FPS. I cant believe they got more removed from the "Red Faction story" At least RF2 was playable and semi-fun!
Saints Row is the best Volition franchise these days. |

First time I played it was a demo on the 360 and I thought it was reasonably fun. I can safely say after owning the first and second game it is really well done. There are a few bugs here and there, but I personally think its better than the current iteration of GTA. I prefer the last gen of GTA games.

Just remember that Red Faction started life as Descent 4... and that I'm still waiting for the next game in the Descent series after the cancellation/reworking.
OK Interplay went properly CENSORED up in that time and generally showed the world how to not make games but they are around again and not so long ago re-released the original Descent 1... on the Wii.
Sigh. Step in the right direction I guess. Baby steps maybe but a step. |

I have never played Descent but I know it was the "Daddy" to RF.
Possibly hope then? (for a new Descent)
I notice Hudson have gone down the drain, which is a shame as Bomberman is a classic  |

Originally announced in 2000 by Volition, sadly cancelled and technology from the game used within Red Faction.
Interplay mentioned in 2008 that it would like to do a new Descent game. Since then all they've done is release Descent 1 on the Wii. Nothing new announced in 3 years. Not holding out hope of a new game but will gladly be proven wrong! |
