Hey guys..unless i am just typing in the wrong keywords, i cant find what i am looking for. I am just looking for a standard chassis (front door) lock and key assembly for my Computers front door.. can someone link me to one on newegg or microcenter.com ?
Thanks
p.s I don't want one with a cord or anything.. just a standard lock and key.. my current one looks like a soda machine key is needed to unlock it..but i dont have it. |

For a frontal lock you may have to look into business-style cases. That's really the only practical reason why I would think you'd need one, for a public-use computer. A good example would be to look for "desktop" cases, ones that sit on their side rather than upright, like a tower case. |

Well if i could find the key for it it would be ok... its unlocked and everything..but a hole new lock would be nice...not one with a cord on it or anything like that..just for the door is what i need!
here are the pics of the lock that is on it.
front of front door

back of front door

this is the lock i need..or at least need the key for it. |

Man thats dusty, I think you should give it a good dusting. Maybe inside the case too... Too much dust restricts airflow, and your case has an intake on the front .
Anyways, just wondering... Why do you want a lock for your computer anyways? I know it will stop people from switching on if the power button is behind the door, but you run the risk of loosing your key, just like in this example... No key for the lock means it must have been misplaced before, doesnt it? |

Agreed, if your computer is in a domestic environment , I wouldnt bother with a lock, unless you have stuff on your computer you want to hide from others in the household. |

The case will be cleaned once i order all my parts.. I auctually give the entire case a bath..soap and water type thing and it always works fine....just need that same type lock.
the reason i need the lock, is because my 2 year old likes to get into it and push buttons and try to pull on everything.. he spilled sweet team on my previous motherboard and it fried my board.. but the main reason i want the lock is so he cant open the front door. |

Is there not any special lock smiths in your area who could do it for you? They might be able to help like if there is any around. I think your search for locks is going to be a hard one to find. |

ENM.. I saw that one as well.. and i truthfully dont know if it will work or not. it has to have that lip on the back end so it can latch. |

it looks to me as thought the last one is just a latchset, you attach your exsisting catch onto the back of it |
