So basically this is a stand-alone addon of the game Red Faction: Guerrilla.
It utilizes an improved geomod engine, from the video you can tell it is still 3rd person and you can still destroy structures in the old RF:G fashion.
The graphics are already outdated, the theme reminds me on Dead Space and Quake4.
Looks like another casual game with thin storyline. Doesn't look like open world to me, probably some wider levels with alternate routes though.
Also you can tell that this will be another console game - the PCers will be left out once again. The PC-port will most likely suffer in bad performance and image quality as with RF:G. |

Quoting RED-FROG | The PC-port will most likely suffer in bad performance and image quality as with RF:G. |
While I'll obviously agree that the RF:G PC port was horrible and the RF:A PC port will probably also be horrible, the RF:G PC port didn't have bad image quality - it looked much better than the console versions, it just performed like crap.
Having said that, the newest patch does fix some of the performance issues - but it's way too late for that. |

Quoting digital_ruler | Volition says it's because it's an open-world game... fair enough. |
fair enough?
Somebody hasn't played Far Cry2.
The graphics of RF:G is crap because they were limited to the consoles memory (512MB ).
Many textures in RF:G are utter crap. Just look at the ugly weapons. Those are always present. |

But what is also true is that the weapons seem to actually look better in RF Armageddon..
But those are just some early and polished teaser screenshots that most likely do not reflect the final playable product.
Just like with UT3 (<< image) |

We should of made MW4 on UT3 ...

Looks interesting. Especially in the fifth photo it looks like you get a device that can create/fix structures rather than destroying them.
And the theme looks very survival horror. Quite different from the past RF games. |

IMHO, I HATED RF:G. It was entertaining for about an hour. Let's give a nice example, shall we? I played GTA:4, was like, "Cool, I love running the streets, killing people, i.e. Running them over, shoosting them in da face, having intercourse with paid professionals, etc." But after about an hour, I had killed somebody every way possible, had intercourse with every paid professional, and stolen every car in the game. BORING. WAS entertaining, lost interest quick. Same CENSORED , different day. Repeatativeness blows. |

Don't say that. I am planning on buying it. It's only $19.99 at Best Buy. I finally have a PC that will run it.
I might buy it when I got to Fry's and get another card reader for my older PC, they are located very close to each other. Dang thing hasn't worked since I installed it. :'( |

"Don't say that"
You tell him to not tell the truth!!!???? HIS OWN OPINION!? FRANK!!!
I understand him. But when I have gotten GTA4 I have forced myself to focus on the campaign first. But I never played it till the end because of the mentioned repetitiveness.
Only the storyline of GTA4 could hold me for a while, but even that was pretty whack, lame and unrealistic.
Same with the recently released GTA4 Liberty City Stories. I've played The Lost and Damned for a while....but it's really just..GTA4. With heavy repetitiveness.
After some hours of playing (scattered over a week) I tryed out The ballad of CENSORED Tony. Again the exact same thing. Haven't even played it for 30minutes and the boring cutscenes were like 18minutes?
But I play classic RPG games, where you just walk around, talk with people (start quests), fight monsters and collect stuff many hours long.
So in RF:G you pretty much do it the same way.
You play mission after mission (you start them like in GTA4 at specific spots, usually in your base). You can only hope that those missions have some variation and some sort of uniqueness. Tbh I don't really remember many missions except for the one that also plays in the RF:G Demo where you have to steal a Walker. That was one of the longer and rather special missions....still way not enough imo.
Last time I started RF:G...I was playing it like for around 10minutes, smashed some stuff (which get's old - because you kinda get the idea of the geomod and how it works - it's always the same destruction) and closed it again.
Really not worth playing it again without a functional multiplayer. Maybe later again.
But 20$ is ok I'd say. ^^ It was a good game to spend the time with and far from horrible, I'd say. |

Well it's not allowed to say that in these forums. (the RF underground forums banned me for saying "seed" alone. Just "seed", in one post.)
But imo THQ/Volition deserve nothing for RF:G and Armageddon seems to follow that path.
(RF:G : bad PC support +lame port, no collectors edition, 3rd person, killed GeoMod, killed what RF originally meant to be)
I've (finally) got RF:G as an extra that came with Metro 2033. :3 ^^..
Metro2033 is hell of a game. |
