Thats better. Although the UT2004 colour scheme doesn't really work so well with the poll bars...
[edit]
Changed to match the outerstrip of the navbar. |

To be honest, I don't like the new site
I mean, the different themes for each section is really cool, but it just doesn't feel like... home anymore.
I'm sure it will do after a while of getting used to it though,
Good work, Garner |
Back in RF... getting back into the swing of things! |

On-topic i think the new site is conufsing and verry buggy aswell as annoying at times.. i REALLY think there should be a option to choose a template, id choose the original anyday. |

I prefer Pi to pie
Some of the templates looks amazing, others not so much
Having that option again would be nice, but it's not majourly important |

I'm not impressed with the new look. It looks more amatuer than the old design. The old designed had a more polished look and was much easier to navigate.
This doesn't look like Levels4you at all anymore, I feel like I'm at a clan website.
Not to mention that ad right in the middle of the forum as you're scrolling down... I constantly feel like I'm coming to the end of the thread and click back when there's more to read. |

The first thing you need to understand is that the old site was based on a piece of software called Unified. The last few revisions were based on that.
THIS Levels4You has been re-written from the ground up. All the code is brand spankin new and designed with the high traffic levels in mind. When Unified was created, it wasn't designed to handle the stresses that the site was undertaking. Thats why, near the end, we were having so many problems.
Seeing as how its a whole new codebase, it would make sense that there are bugs. Pretty much any program has them. We weren't able to test it with 35,000 members before going live. We had to settle for about 15. Things come up that were missed. We'll get them fixed.
There is no template choosing. This isn't PHP Nuke. This site CAN'T conform to the old L4Y. Its not built the same.
The ads on the site, are because people aren't donating. That bar at the bottom should be close to 60%, but its half that. The increased number of Google Ads has brought in more money. It came down to making L4Y a pay site, or deal with a few more Google ads that (mostly) blend in with the rest of the layout. Garner chose the Google ads.
You'll get used to the site. It actually is easier to use than the old site. The download queue system works, so downloads are a bit faster now. Files are spread over two servers instead of 1. We've added 2 new sections and brought back 4 sections that were destined for the trash heap. This site is better managed, because Garner gave the staff more capabilities. There are alot of things we can do on this site that we couldn't do, or had to depend on Garner, Genxer or DG for before.
So, all in all, if you find a bug, report it. We'll fix it. Don't whine and complain until you've really had a chance to let it soak in. Garner worked his butt off to bring everyone this new site. The staff has been testing tirelessly for the past 4-5 months. We've done what we can. All ungrateful people can show themselves out. |

Well, Things look pretty and I'm sure that the functionality will be an improvement. Basically, I want to say that I appreciate the effort.
Now to complain:
Not a fan of losing all my private messages. I would have backed up a couple things if I knew that was going to happen.
There isn't a RED FACTION forum anymore .
A Search function on the splash page would be really helpful. |

I like the new look. I like how each section is different and how the hot topics feature threads pertaining to the section you are in. Very nice!
I give it a big Thumbs Up.
I do believe however, that posts of a general nature should appear in all sections (ie lounge and site feedback.) so that all see them. Fer instance, I posted about the Todays Birthdays but it only shows up when I got to L4y main.

Red, you'll see the forum when you go to the Red Faction section. RED Help and Red Faction Lounge. |
