Hello,

I am having quite a bit of trouble trying to figure out how to get my textures to move while in game.

I have tried placing both an explode event and when_dead, linked the two and placed them both in a 1x1x1 air box quite a ways outside my map. Also in the properties of the explode event the radius is at 3.00, damage is at 50.00 and I selected do geomod. Yet while in game this fails to activate my textures. but if I blast at the wall with a rocket it works just fine, but I want it to be working automatically and not have to manually do it myself.

Please help.

You have the setup correct.
Did you check the box on the when_dead event "Activate when any dead"?
Try making the box a little bigger. I usually use 4x4x4.
My Explode event was set to the following

Radius: 6.00
Damage: 10.00

I also included a "Geo Region" as I made the map, not to allow geo.

Well I'm flattered lol

However this is still really stumping me. Normally I would try and figure it out myself, but I knew I could always rely on the faithful community of l4y!

I tried what you suggested and there is still no movement... I may just have to go with manually geomodding seeing as that's the only thing that seems to be working.

Damn that did not work...
Hmmm. Try deleting the event system, and place it back in.
Try a combination between When_Dead to trigger the explode or an Auto Trigger.

See if either of them work.

Okay, I tried the first option of deleting the events then placing them back in and that was a no go. I then tried different combos of linking triggers to the events like trigger auto to when_dead and explode or trigger to explode, but no matter what I did nothing seemed to work, but now that I think about it I think I might just leave it as it is. it still looks fine whether the textures are moving or not.

Have you testet the scrolling this way:
make your lvl goemodable, test it and use the rocketlauncher to make something explode.
Now the textures should move!

Otherwise u might have forgotten to set the texture properties in the right way...

But if it scrolls now, your triggered explosion at the beginning does not effect any brush.
Make sure that something is geomoded at least...

To test, move the exploder region into the map, to test its exploding as it should, that we we can eliminate:

A. Whether the Event isnt firing...

B. Whether the Event is firing and the problem lies in the map side of things... Also make sure to check the area is geomod-able.

erm just download an old map of mine called ctf psyangel open in red and look for the explode event in that and save the group.......sorry long time since i been here so memory is hazy

Portal can exclude your texture pan if is in another "color room". I suggestion also an indirect activation with Trigger Auto & Keyframe Event UID, to let the jOb to a Dedicated Server before a player join to avoid hearing Geo explosion.

It wouldn't really make a difference... I actually tried reusing the same setup I had in an earlier map of mine by saving it as a group and it didn't work.

As far as portals go... I know that's out of the question since there are no portals in my map yet. I'm just gonna have to play around with the triggers and events and how they're linked together until something comes up, but if not then maybe it could be some kind of internal problem... maybe within the texture itself?

I've had this exact same problem as well. Only that problem started happening when I switched over to a new machine with a quad processor. It worked fine on the old packard bell machine I had .

But I think even the texture scrolling has it limits when it comes to working with portals in different rooms. But even with large maps with no portals, the scrolling might work only for
half the map and not the other if its a really large map..
Red limits breached?, Yep, (20,000 fces and its still going !)

Hmm... you know now that I think about it I never had this problem with my old machine. It could very well be based on my computer's hardware...

I don't think thats true sir. I made a box seperate from my map for danger canyon 3.
When the box is seperate from the level, it shows up as a different colour, meaning its not part of the map and counts as a portal. I also have a little section of the map portal'd as well where my scrolling texture is. The semi-transparent bridge texture scrolls successfully.
I have my explode event linked with a when_dead to start it.
