Graphics cards have been up to 2048*1536 as long as I can remember. Standard 15" monitor res is 1024*768, 17" should easily manage more... unless you bought it back in the stone age Heck my Samsung SyncMaster 757MB 17" was pretty cheap at around £100 and supports all the way up to 2048*1536! Although believe me, you gotta have damn good eyesight (and an electron microscope handy) to read anything on a 17" monitor at that res... Perhaps 5 years ago I have used 1024x768, I just can't live with this resolution no more (the icons are as large as my hand!!) RedFrog you must have the greatest eye site in the world or a huge monitor.
