Honestly I am no longer into [What I consider a childish thing] the whole chat thing. I rent a Team Speak server. No typing require.  Also when I logged in Big Willy was on and I didn't know who he was until he told me. Yes, it was he who started the conversation, not me. He told me that he couldn’t play Red Faction any more. I gave him the links to Pure Faction and Crystal Faction.
As far as me not having Xfire on this PC:
This PC was used as a server PC mostly and nothing else. It didn’t even have a sound card that worked correctly. My other computer took a dump. Xfire was just one among many programs that weren't install. IM programs in [in my opinion] are only good for file sharing and giving out passwords to hosers that get hacked. 
As far as being mad that I don't have anybody wanting to talk to me, that's a joke on its own.
Have you ever thought that it's the other way around? I don't want to chat with anybody using an Instant Message Program. That also includes on my phone.
Too many people rely on said programs to talk to each other. We are slowly losing the ability to talk to each other in person. I myself prefer to meet face to face with my friends. True I might not have many friends but the ones I do have I hold dear to my (you know what, I don't want to sound too intouch with my feeling ). I choose whom my I tend to call a friend very carefully. I know that none of the friends that will ever back stab me. Can you say that about anybody you know online and only online? If you can and can say it with a straight face then you are a hell of a liar.
I've literally had friends tell me that they would take a bullet for me. So you know IF I ever become President that I will hire them as my bodyguards. The friends I have been through thick and thin with me. They know me and I know them. I wouldn't change who my friends are for anything. 
Any way, I know that you were only playing, since you did type this in ( ). I just wanted to make a point that who we are online is not always who we really are in real file. 
Sorry for the rant, but I just needed to get that off my chest and into your ears and mind.  |

A real gamer with gaming friends has xfire. 
We keep connection with each other, play favorite games with each other - we see what everyone has got. And we see when someone is playing.. UT2004 *cough* I mean Mars Wars *cough*. xD
We update ourselves with videos and screenshots of the newest games and share experiences/recommendations.
We chat with each other while playing different games, we are always in reach when on PC.
We broadcast games and let other people watch us playing the newest or old games live.
We surf the web while playing or waiting a mapdownload/respawn to be done.
We voice chat with each other.
We overlay a frames per second counter on screen.
We record videos in games maintaining high performance.
Xfire is all about gaming.
I can understand when someone is pissed using MSN or ICQ.
Since the past months I haven't been launching it as much anymore. The reason for it sounds harsh, but there's too many dorks in my MSN friends list.
They usually come up with matters that I don't have time for. And it's usually less about gaming, since MSN tends to cause girly chat. |

Quit bragging about your real life frank ... everyone else here has one as well  ...
I apparently have to load vent onto my pc now  ... my game development club wants to use that as the standard means of communication ...
But it seems to me forums are soo much better for crap like that  ...
as for internet friends who would take a bullet for me ... Im not quite sure how they would do that ...
Also even your best friends in real life wouldn't really take a bullet for you ... they are more likely to just stand there and then say " CENSORED ... you got shot man  " after the fact |

It's the thought that "they" said it to me.
I, myself, won't take a bullet for anybody.
Just like I wouldn't fight another man, just because she cheated on me. Technically we were on a break.  She just didn't tell me we should see other people. 
Then again if she had said that we should see other people then that usually means she already is seeing somebody else.

I didn't know they had any gamers in Texas. From what I've been told. In Texas, there are only steers and (you know). After all, it is being held in the Gaylord Texan.  |

haha actually it WAS being held at the Hilton Anatole in downtown Dallas, TX. They changed venues however within the past 2 days due to the Hilton trying to force a date change due to some cosmetic company's convention or something stupid.
So id Software decided to have it at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, TX which is less than 30min from Dallas. |

I never understood that phrase ... are steers referring to actual steers (castrated bulls?) or people ... if its people, aren't they suggesting that either people have no balls or they're not straight*

Frog, about your MSN comment, thats true but not true. Whenever I talked to you on there it was 90% of the time related to Unreal. Otherwise, yeah MSN sucks. I use AIM and thats only to talk to the girlfriend back home.
