Ok, So I have ran into a issue with my computer lately... LUCKLY! it has not affected my mapping for Red Faction but I have lost an extra Partition on my hard drive. Read below for the explination.

So Im missing a Partition from this pic... I have no idea why it has gone missing, but its got some data on there I would like to keep!

This image shows that in Disk Management, it is shown as unallocated space. Please bare in mind, this partition on my hard drive has not been formatted by me or anyone else.

I right click the Unallocated partition and click on "Change Drive Letter or Paths..." and I get the above error message. I refresh the view and the same error occurs.

I right click on the partition this time and select "Format...", This is the box I get. When I click on "Yes", look at what I get!

Any idea's how to get this partition back without loosing anything on it?
Operating System: Windows 7 RC Ultimate. |

What happens if you plug the HD into another PC?
And why do you have so many partitions anyway.. what are folders for? :/
Doesn't increase any speed. Ok, may be helpful at deframentationvirus scan (doesn't take that long) but that's all I can think of.
Why did you click on "Yes" if you want to keep the data anyway?
So yea..try it on another PC with WinXp or something. Just that drive, use it as slave/2ndHD. (of course) |

Well I am aware that having many partitions does not increase speed, I have that many because I like to keep certain saved items on certain partitions... as they are named...
C Local Disk = Windows and Program Files
D Games = Obviously all my games that are installed (Seperate to C drive so when reformatting windows, I dont have to re-install them again)
E Stuff = Yep, stuff... crap, rubbish... You name it, I have it!
F Backup = Backup of various programs that I like to keep on my C Drive so that when I reformat C, I do not loose anything again.
I click "Yes" Because I knew it was not going to reformat anyways without asking permission twice, as usually when going to reformat a partition, you see this handy tool come up.

I will defently try the drive on a different computer at some point, but the drive is SATA-II so it does not have Slave / Master / Cable Select jumpers on them.
I would like to know if theres anything I can do before I take my HDD out and put it into another computer? |
