Hey Guys, i am new to this part of the forum..i am usually in the red faction forums.. But i was wondering something.
1. When playing "Instant Action" ( playing under Mars Wars 3.0) is there a way to add more than 32 bots to any CTF or DM or TDM game?
and
2. Is there a setting or something that i can add, that would allow me to play against all 32 bots? I mean like 1 player (me) against 32?
( yes i know i would loose, but just want to try it.)
Thanks |

| Quoting jefe | | I haven't tried Mars Wars yet (but I probably should since the author is a regular here) but 32 is the limit in UT2004... |
Grr ...
Red Frog worked for 2 years on that ... as well as me too ... all the experience i have with modding UT2k4 is through MW ...
we even got on the front page a couple of times at moddb ...
Its official ... Mars Wars needed better PR ... and a better name ... and a more astheticly pleasing logo ... and a Superbowl commercial ...
how do people miss TC's of all mods |

| Quoting jefe | Well there are factors against TCs that smaller scale mods and mutators don't necessarily have to deal with. The first is a large download size, typically more than 250 mb, and significantly more when unzipped. If you already have a lot of UT content, or are low on HDD space, or have a poor internet connection, you'll be wary of downloading it.
Another is that not all TCs make it easy for server administrators to use content from the TC online in other gametypes or for regular users to use the content in Instant Action in vanilla UT2004. Chaos UT, for example does include mutators, so it's easier, and people are exposed to the content, but others aren't quite as thoughtful.
The next is that when you go online, only a small subset of UT2004 users have your TC, and therefore there is rarely the critical mass needed for populated servers, if there even are any. Even playing offline can be a chore, since you start most TC's separately from UT2004, and your ini settings are separate, etc. And of course, the saying, out of sight, out of mind applies. Since the gametypes don't appear unless you activate the mod, you play them less.
Well, that's just my opinion, anyway. |
ok, we don't really have many people online ... normally its a weekend thing and we get around 4 or so people in the server ... and the mod is a little bloated in size ... and the content isn't really cross compatible ...
but i will say that starting this TC is not a chore at all due to my handy dandy launcher

Assaultman:
I tottaly agree with you. I think you the MW should have its own TV show on primetime cable..Or dish..LOL
This is why i know that you all can do anything .. SO i guess we never got a answer for the more than 32 bots thing huh?
I think the bigger the mod, then obviuosly the more options you have and the better the mod.
s'Just my opinion. I did look threw some ( not all) of the Ini's but i could find that string anywhere. |

Oops, sorry ... i got distracted ...
To be honest, i haven't heard of people breaking the 32 bot limit ... generally when the limit is broken, the actual bots are "monsters" in which they aren't really full-fledged bots ... get what im sayin
I looked into it and i couldn't find anything on the web ... man ... if you can increase the player limit in KF you would think adding more than 32 bots to UT2k4 would be very possible
... where the hell is RedFrog ... he would know ... probably |
