I just acquired those RF CD's from trashthasher, we install it on my friends compy, but are having troubles. He cant connect to the RF tracker, regardless of network configuration. Can this have something to do that he is running XP X64 ? He also can't run at 32bit color either, but thats probably because the card is failing.
there are no firewalls, all ports are forwarded on his D-link 604+, 1.2 update plus
pF2.1. so iam a bit stumped any ideas |

Give basic system specs please, such as processor and video card.
As for the network bit, are all the ports forwarded for the correct IP on the router?
Just for example if his pc is assigned 192.168.1.102, you need to make sure all the ports are forwarded for 192.168.1.102 and not 192.168.1.101, etc.
That should not affect recieving from the tracker however. Have you tried using an alternate tracker just to see if it works?
I know that XP x64 is plagued with issues to no end. Make sure that the Windows XP firewall is turned off(Maybe its blocking the recieving end). |

Sounds like a networking problem to me. Are there any problems connecting to anything else, other trackers maybe? The first thing I would try would be changing the port that RF connects with. If you have something else using the same port it can cause conflicts. |

I think I know what it is. The system is connected to the router via a D-link wifi card. I think RF does not recognize the card as in game settings, it never has any network settings in the boxes. they where all blank when I loaded it the first time. I will try a direct LAN connection.
I dont think it be from the US would make any difference, heck even the slimline CD cases that trashthrasher put them in were the exact one I had my copys in, same color and all. |

Good thing you let everyone know that from the start, right? |

That's strange, I play it on a laptop with a wifi card with no issues.
Make sure that you set the PC to have a static ip so that the ip's you select for port forwarding remain the same, and do not change on you the next time you reboot. I posted how to do it some time ago in this thread.
Hope that helps. |

yeah it got s static IP, it will be i while before i try any thing, the comp died, something has gone wrong with XP, wont boot. I can't format it yet because all his data is still on the drive, so I have pre ordered a new drive for him. Once it comes I will be able to install a fresh copy of OS and retrieve all the data on the current drive. thats XP for ya. Works fine, next time you use the comp it doesn't work. |
