I got an old computer from my mom. I would like to wipe the HD clean and just use it as a seperate drive in my computer. I need help ffrom the comp gurus on here...or point me to a good website.

If you just want to add the hard drive to an existing computer the setup is pretty simple. You just plug it in and you're nearly done. Windows should detect it automatically and you should be able to format straight from windows.

Here's a much more detailed set of instructions. Hope it helps.

Yep that's pretty much all there is, plug it up and Windows should detect it right away.

More often than not the jumpers will be set on cable select, so it should work just fine.

If that's not the case, the label on the hard drive should explain the jumper positions. Not a hard thing to figure out.

You shouldn't have to, unless someone changed the default settings already. It couldn't hurt to just open them and check that your drive is detected.
