NEW* Get this instead of this. WHY? Because the new version can be used by ALL versions of Red Faction instead of just Crystal Faction

Well since sabeR,s Crystal Faction updates RF to use DirectX 9,I thought hey lets try using ENB series to see if it works.And whatdaya know,it works!Here,s some pics for you unbelievers



















I have already uploaded the files needed for bloom in RF so you all be patient and wait for the next file update.

Also.....This needs the latest version of crystal faction to work.

Yea I made RF using bloom once, too.
But it required way more performance than it would profitable.

But the way you've managed to enable bloom is different to mine.

How did you enable bloom in RF?I,m not sure about performance but i think it,s good though.

A guy called tRooper (one of my strongest MW beta testers ^^) gave me some dx8 to dx9 converters. (so I could try to rip models from RF, but it never worked)
One of them came with that feature. It had a nasty impact on performance. Even on my graphics card.
It was like from 120fps+ to 40 or so. Didn't really look but I felt it.

mine was like bloom over the whole frame while yours is just affecting the world I think.

Okay just tested this with a a laptop with 898 mb of RAM a ati radeon xpress 200m graphics card and a crappy core 2 duo and the fps loss ranged from 1 to 9.Thats okay for me but not sure with you guys...

And what was the fps before?
When its been 120fps a loss of 1-9 is ok, but when it's been like 30fps with the same loss, and the map even was undetailed than its more loss percent-wise. (always use percent on fps loss. elsewise it doesn't say anything)

FPS was 40 but that was for a CENSORED laptop on a gaming pc i get the same fps as you 120+ and the loss is really small.

Oh yeah for future reference,you can edit these settings in enbseries.ini if you find the bloom doing "something explicit" to your eyes Those are the default settings.

We can also make this RF1.2 or PF compatible.

Plus you can turn bloom on and off by pressing Shift+F12 ANYTIME. ^^

I had the same bloom thing before, I only had some settings wrong so it ran really slowly in the past.

Explain how to make this compatible for 1.2 and PF

And yes the turning on-off is something the ENB series can do

Yea I first was afraid it can also enable wallhacks/lightmap/mipmap texture modes so cheaters would be using it.
But that one isn't capable of doing it.

Okay i see but if it works we may need to upload a new file I was wondering about goobers RF detail textures project and i thought if this bloom mod were combined with goober,s detail textures mod we may get a shiny RF

Yea hehe I was playing it with the detail textures.

Does the dx8 file overwrite an old dx8 file?

If so, you need to warn people to backup their old dx8 file, or even add an "uninstall kit" with the original files to it.

Somehow i tried but it doesnt work Maybe you,ll have better luck? Btw it doesnt seem to replace anything[the directx8.dll].

I dunno why it didn't work for you. I sent goober the same dll.
Was it missing another dll?

btw RF2 doesnt seem to work with bloom. hm.
