Version 2.1 released (November 6th)
Changes:

Packfile space has been increased:
Previously, RF could load a maximum of 13500 files from vpps and upon reaching this limit in having lots of custom maps installed, the game would exit giving an error message "Out of packfile space". You can type GetVpps in console to view your current VPP/Packfile status. If you have 256/256 vpp files loaded, you will need to remove some until you have less than 256, or the automap downloader will not function. NOTE: The 256 VPP file limit still exists, but will be removed next update.

Shouldnt trotskie be back ?

he should come back soon..

People are pissed about PF 2.1 already.

[to clarify: Some people experience slow FPS by using PF2.1. In 2.0 it was normal]

Someone had mentioned the issue of brightness/gamma which I cannot change. Some maps are too dark for me to play and since I now seem to have the mapping bug again, I really need to be sure I'm not making them too brightly lit. Is there a solution to this problem?

Running Geforce 8600 GT.

Kiliad PM Trump about it. He is using another program to fix the "darkness" problem. I forget what it's called. If it's freeware, maybe we can host it here.
BTW one nice thing I can say about PF 2.1 is that it has allowed me to play with/against Kiliad again. He is still very dangerous with the rail. He hasn't lost his touch... I know he touched me when I saw him in the server.

The 3D app gamma control should be lost during windowed mode, but not in fullscreen.

Why don't you just use a 3rd party app to adjust the gamma if it doesn't work properly in PF? Should probably work, no?

Don't even think you need to use a 3rd party app, just open your video cards control pannel and drag the gamma slider up in the colour settings. then when your done playing just drag it back to where it was.

With a Nvidia video card and fairly updated drivers you just right click on your desktop somewhere, click "Nvidia control pannel" go to "adjust desktop colour settings" which is under "Display", then launch PF and switch back and forth between the game and the control pannel adjusting the gamma slider until you find the amount you like. You don't even need to click apply, so when your done playing just click cancel and it'll bring it back to where you originally had it. or if you did click apply you can just drag it back to where it was and re click apply.

No Idea how to do this on an ATI AMD card though because I don't have one to try it on.

Good point, I didn't even consider that.... come to think of it my video card has options like that too.

I guess you can tell how often I adjust that.

lol, you can also force Anisotrophic Filtering, Antialiasing, and other 3D settings RF doesn't have built into it, through your video card's control pannel and make RF look better!

Beatonator - as I've see Frank in there, I guess I must be there around the same time... if that makes sense.

After fiddling with my cards settings, I have managed to get a reasonable balance in brigthness/contrast for most maps but its nt perfect. I'll take your advice Frank...... wow, I never thought I'd ever say those words.

Every map is lit so differently.... even just playing the default maps it's hard to find a good gamma balance. At least in CTF that is.... I don't play DM unless it's customs.

Kiliad, I would recommend a program called GammaControl.
It's a small file that can be loaded and used during gameplay to adjust on the fly. I believe it's in dutch, but it's easy to use. Once you load it, hit Ctrl-Alt-1 to lower and Ctrl-Alt-2 to raise it. This should tide you over until Trotskie comes up with a fix in PF. It's a free download. Thanks to sofia <3 for recommending it to me.
