We finally have the net again, now with Tesco we got 1.1Mb, and download speeds of 100-150kbps. We are now with Post Office broadband, theoretically we are getting 2Mb. But my download speeds are idling around 7bkps - 12kbps. I just rung them and they said I cant report a fault within the first 10days as the line is adjusting, is this bull?

If I got 100kbps+ from Tesco down the same line, I should be getting the same with Post office surely? My Router is diagnosing my connection as 128kbps down and 64kbps up. Its painful. Any suggestions/help. Im using an extension cable, but I was when I had Tesco Broadband.

I get 4091kbs up and 481kbs down on speed tests using tiscali's "up to 8 meg" service. Highest I've seen an actual download go is ~200kbs. Most providers tell you about the line adjustment period so I'm guessing it must have some validity?

Have you tried tests like http://www.speedtest.net/?

The extra little bit of cable the connection goes through shouldn't affect the speed too much, having said that I use wireless myself.

If all else fails, wait the 10 days and ring them again

As far as any "adjustments" go it would be strictly on their end. Probably paperwork and settings need to be put in order before your service completely kicks in.

I hope you mean kb/sec, not kbps

when i say kbps I mean kb per second which is surely the same as what you mean by kb/sec?

rofl I was confused when I read that.

kbps = kilobits per second
KB/s = kilobytes per second

you were also once using bkps, which is.. I don't know

I was under the assumption that:

kbps = kb/sec
KBps = KB/sec.

I know Capitals mean your talking about bytes rather than bits. I realise where I CENSORED ed up now. Oh and Red Frog bkps is kbps for the illiterate.
