You should go out and buy yourself 2 guns. Load both guns.
Empty one clip (weapon) and then try to change weapon to fire...does it work? Or does a "magical force" disallow you to grab the other gun because the other one is still empty?
If so, you are psychopath, shoot yourself!
The stuff you have tryed to find an explaination for doesn't say anything. You seem to have no idea about programming and WIPs.
Of course they fixed the problem with the weapon switch while reload - for the simple fact that they have no animations for that, and it would completely break their code.
Your skills stink if you can't handle this. |

I have said it before and I will say it again. When I played RF on the Mac I was unable to switch weapons while reloading. I considered it an abuse of the game when I saw PC players switch weapons while reloading.
We have been thru this argument many times. There is no solution for everyone's anger - so drop it. |

The animations had no problems, it was the silent bullets and the fact that it unbalenced the game.
Red Faction was never intended to be "realistic" by any means so your "go buy 2 guns and try it" doesn't really mean anything... |

I'm glad to hear on the progress of PureFaction, Trotskie.
As far as this whole reloading thing goes...the way I see it is, I'd switch guns and wouldn't think twice about sitting there about to get killed because I'm reloading. I'd switch to another weapon, in similarity to Call of Duty 4 where you can switch to a pistol after your primary weapon ran out of bullets. Sure, it's a different game, but the idea makes sense.
Players do it, I don't care. I just do it in retaliation to show them who's boss. |

I wonder how the CENSORED people can call this a glitch at all.
Hapa it is not possible to switch weapons WHILE reload in RF, but BEFORE you are going to reload it.
CoD4 is by far not the only game, there are countless games, I should try it in CS, I BET it works there.
Of course its the lack of animations which make a Switch WHILE reload impossible. Most games doesn't allow it.
Example:
Animation: *Your hand is pulling out the magazine* while this happens you change guns.
- Now without a proper animation the gun would just dissapear which is not real, and would make no sense. (altough it would make sense if the reload sequence would continue at the time it was stopped when you change to the weapon back again)

Gotta concur with Hapa on this one. The horse has been beaten to death on the switch weapon argument. Time to bury it.
It will be nice when the new version of PF comes out. Hopefully soon. |

Agreed Trump.
Red Frog, lack of animations does not disable RFs ability to switch during reload. In multidemo, It played the holster animation which is still in RF (for holstering). They took out the ability to switch while reloading.
Whats the big deal anyway? Just shoot until you have 1 bullet then switch before reloading the gun. The real issue here is the fact that silent bullets are fired and reloads are skipped when switching before a reload.
Plus the fact that a rail gun isn't supposed to be a "you get a 1 hit kill shot then can begin shooting a half-second later" gun. |

If all goes to plan this argument will be over. I hope to be able to make it a serverside option as to if you can switch away before reload. My personal opinion: the rail gun does not seem at all underpowered when you are forced to reload it, therefore I believe the ability to almost instantly fire another gun after shooting makes it overpowered. However, I also see that some people are very used to this being in the game so it would be very annoying for them. Can never please everyone, so having the server decide would be the optimum solution. |

I don't think the problem is switching away from the weapon... who says that if you were shooting somebody you couldn't switch to a weapon that has a full clip? The glitch that should be stopped is the one to reload it while switching back. I think that is the part that wasn't meant to be in the game. 
EDIT:
Sorry jumped the gun on posting, didn't realize all that was said. Still, I think it's a good point. |
