Is there any way at all to make mods run from a map's vpp file when that map is played, rather than in the mods folder with the command line to use it?
Basically, I want to replace all the weapon V3D files with a different V3D file (weapons placed on the map that you pick up), but I want it to work only when playing that map, and work without using a mod separately.
I've tried dropping a modified items.tbl in the map's vpp, but that didn't work.
Is there any way I could do this? |

Nope, the game will always read the multi folder first and replace said files all the time. Well as long as the map is installed on your Multi or single folder. |

Well there was a time when alot of Server side mods weren't known (to myself anyway) , So I don't doubt that It could be possible 1 way or another.. But that doesn't help I know.. Only giving some incentive which I feel was needed much. |

Oh well, I guess it was a dead end.
I've decided though, that if I can get this to work, I'll simply release it as a mod, and just have the items placed on the map as is. I'd rather do that then what I had originally planned.
Anyway, can items placed on the map have transparent textures? None of this would have worked in the first place if they can't. If they can though, would someone with 3ds max be willing to help me make a simple 6 sided mesh and export it for me? I'd do it, but 3ds max refuses to work correctly for me. That, and I uninstalled it a couple weeks ago to preserve disk space. >_< |

It would be good, though, for people to add separate mods to different maps. Custom maps made strictly for the intent of that specific modification, though.
Like going from a casual city war to the next map being a citywar DBZ Mod style. Shake things up a bit.

Be an amazing thing to have. Honestly.
Go from Iron Sun to Red Storm to Tactical to normal Red Faction to settings that almost represent a cheat mod, but for all players. It wouldn't be cheating when everyone is doing it, with the same enhancements. That would actually be fun, all out flying fragfests.
Then say, over to a mod that replaces the first person model of the pistol to something that represents the fighter CENSORED pit, and the third person model of the character is changed into a fighter. Would almost be like vehicles in multiplayer, except that you can't jump out of the jet when you are in fact, the jet.
