Ok, heres the deal I have a server, which is hosting a website and a Game server.
Im using a Dynamic DNS website (no-ip.com)
I setup my address, and then sorted out portforwarding. Everything works perfectly.
(192.168.1.65)
Couple of days later (yesterday) my Router lost its net connection and was unresponsive, I ended up turning it on and then back on. this restarted the router and the net connection was re-established and I could connect to the Router...
however here lies the problem...
My IP pool has been reset and all computers have drawn out a new IP again, this time my server machine is 192.168.1.64.
I updated the DNS site. which correctly redirects to my IP.
I updated my Ports for Port forwarding.
I cant get anyone to connect via DNS.
If I enter the IP... I can connect...
If I try to ping the DNS it comes back with:
192.168.1.65
how do I alter the DNS to 192.168.1.64. Any help? I wouldnt have thought the DNS would have done this? Its as though my router is still re-directing to 192.168.1.65 instead of 192.168.1.64. (checked router settings all setup correctly).
Can i change my machines IP back to 192.168.1.65 just for the sake of making things easy? |

Well you could try changing the IP on your network card's TCP/IP settings.
Im not sure if that will help as im not to good with routers and such |

Cheers warlord. I did try that but as a device had already taken it, it wouldnt let me set my PC to it, despite the device being disconnected afterwards.
In the end I just had to turn off/on my router again and boot up the devices in order so this machine is now .65
cheers anyhow.
Can someone check this site for me >>HERE<<
I can see it but the other night someone was having trouble still connecting. |

Dang. Why is stuff so annoying.
Edit: I fixed it, when I said I had turned my Router On/Off to fix the problem regarding Internal IPs, I forgot to reassign my DNS name to my new EXTERNAL IP, I forgot it would change!
Thanks for helping trouble shout Warlord. |

The site is hosted on my Gaming PC atm. Im going to be changing this in due course. but until the site is finished its going to be up and down. Only up when im online
Its mainly for the server re-direct, but if people can see the website I know they can join the server. works the same way. |

Ok guys. still having Major problems. I ended up upgrading my Routers Firmware, but still had a HELL of a lot of trouble reconnecting it. And My Router homepage is really unresponsive. Help!
I can hear a high Pitched 'eeeeeeeeeee' noise. I believe its coming from the Router but not sure. Plus when I used the Reset button on my router, it still kept all of the settings! |

Try opening command prompt on your server and type in "ipconfig /renew" hit enter, then type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter again. This will clear all network data from your computer and ask for it again. This may (but not always) change your IP address on your local network. If the problem lies with your server this should clear it up; if not then it's either the No-IP software or your router/modem. |
