Make the brush a "portal".
Then place the "RoomFX" within the portal and rise the water...
This should work normaly.

check the "is portal" box for the air brush where you want water and make sure your 'room effect' is completely within that brush.

Maybe its because it doesn''t fit completly in there

yeah from the screen it looks like your brush is around 1 in hight. perhaps try extruding the top of your cylinder up by 2 or so to fully encompass the room fx?

in my experience though, using the portal method to limit water within a level is often very difficult to use correctly without adding significant holes to your level or just plain not working. i find it often failing to work correctly with more complex levels and usages of faces and vertexes.

hope you get it working

Stick a Face portal across the top of the water.

that should cut it off completely, its theonly way I ever got that sort of thing working.

Edit: the RoomFX 'object' is the pinpoint, in the middle of where it says RoomFX, doesnt matter if some of the text is outside, as long as you grid snap it and move it to where it should be (middle of the icon in the airbrush, where you want water) it should work.

im glad to see l4y still helps out the less-knowlegable

huh?
Sounds like an offense.

And how could you help the people that know more than you?

Air brushes are not meant to be portals in any way. Air brushes are rooms, and solid brushes can be used as portals to cut off those rooms.
Air portals can cause visual errors, since the portal you are walking through is very thick, and standing inside portals usually isn't any good. It's not possible to stand in face (sheet) portals.

Add a "Room Effect" to this room.
Set the "Effect Type" of the Room Effect to "Liquid Room"
Now you should already see water in that room. However, if there are any lower levels in the map, and they are not cut by portals, the water will be at the lowest level.

You must either cut that room with the pool from the others with a portal, or you cut the pool from the Room itself with a face brush at the very bottom of the pool...kinda like you want to cover it with a brush. (Check it with "View ->Show Rooms in different colors)

Also if you cut off the pool from the room, the Room Effect has got to be inside the pool.
Note that in this room there shouldn't be any geomod near the pool possible because it will look wrong.

I tryed different techniques, but the brush keeps becoming see trough

And that is the brush i want the water to be in. , and that is even before i put in the room FX.

When using a solid face as portal in the air brush i want the water to be in I can see trough the portal and whats beneath it from one side, from the other side of the portal it shows everything.

make a cylinder with the exact same size and sides, flatten it, make it a solid brush, then tick the portal checkbox.

move it to as close as possible to the top of the cylindrical pool. put a room FX for the water just under the portal but above the floor of the pool. rebuild, then adjust the spinner for the water height, if the height is larger than the portal height the water surface will not show. so you will have to fine tune it a bit.

I found your problem Moster , your level (Island) wasn't touching the level box , so I made a thin invisible solid brush that connects your Island to the level box from underside of the Island , all works sweet now

that happens when Water is involved too? I had problems with Geo-mod on floating platfroms, In the end I had to attach a very small (invisible) brush to the bottom of the airbrush and to the platforms... good find Itch

Haven't had change to try it yet, but that was another thing that got me a bit puzzled, I wasn't able to do any geo mod in the level at all. I hope this is solved by this too
