Hi all
first of all i am not sure if this is the rght section to post
But i do need some help or advice
as you all know i am <L-S>Foxy-uk Founder of <L-S>
i know most either Love or hate <L-S>
but please can you just try to help me out
My problem is i dont know much about Hackers
But i do have a Problem with them or some one as our Forums are getting hacked at least every 2 weeks now we had it hacked twice in 24 hours
I made a new forum and about a week later this Got hacked also
I was root admin
Now what i Don't understand is the hacker got on using a leaders nick again
but he/she then got into root admin and change my Name and PW
(so i could not even get on to the forum)
I was told that none could get to a root admin account on a forum
so how did they do this?
Another forum was made and again with in a week This was hacked
Using the same Leaders name but a different IP
The ip was ban but who ever it was tried for 3 hours to hack the forums again
But was stoped each time
so please could you help me out by telling me How an hacker Got to change my root admin\
as this is driving me crazy
and Also is there any way we an stop this Hacker ,or does any one have any advice on a Forum
that would be Hard to hack?
It is just so Heart Breaking that each time a forum is made and Members post
things and art work that some Person come along and destroys
all there Hard work
I would love to know who this person is Because I feel they must be ill in the mind
To keep doing this over and over again ,and leaving msg Like it is a challenge
one msg was you can't stop me you <L-S> CENSORED
i wont even say what the other msg were
if the Hacker reads this I ask you Please Just Leave us Alone
I Don't know what we have done to you But for some reason in your Mind this is personal
to the Hacker if you want to talk to me please Msg m on here maybe we can sort something out

Hi Foxy,
I see that you are using the old Invision 1.3 forums. These forums have a ton of security vulnerabilities and the company no longer supports that version of their product. (They haven't done for a couple of years now, if my memory serves me right).
You are not the only one using Invision 1.3 that has been hacked. If you do a Google search I am sure you will find hundred's of others that are or have been in your predicament.
Your best option is to use different forum software. If you are after something free then go for something like SMF http://www.simplemachines.org . There have been many good reports on this software.
Also if you know the attackers IP address, do a search on http://whois.domaintools.com/. This will show you who owns that IP. Then lodge a network abuse complaint with the company and see if they can do something about the hacker. |

Wow didn't think that was possible.
I'm sorry to hear this.
There are a couple of CENSORED s in our community that try to destroy it.
One day I've seen the same person crashing most of the RF servers in a few minutes, just when I joined another server after the last one crashed, he did it with that one. I felt like the person was after me, because it happened 3 times in a row. 
Hacking accounts is one of the poorest things you can do, I can't help you witht hat but I'd do what Hermit said. (uhm is this Hermit a fake or is it the real one? ) Didn't think you were still around. |

Real. 
Foxy do as what Hermit_R said. You need to always be up to date on any web page software to try and keep out hackers. Eventually they will find security holes if they try hard enough and the reason why companies keep coming out with newer versions (Javascript protection has never been secure). I know some companies will actually remove someones access to a Internet connection if the perpetrator is found to be hacking web site, which is illegal in most countries. There are basically two types of hacking:
1. Hacking to break into password protected sections of the website. (Often Illegal)
2. Hacking so that you can modify or deform a website. NOTE: Criminal Offense
I've sent you a web site that might help with what is going on. I don't really want to post it here because the way it shows you how to protect yourself from hackers, it can also teach others how to hack a very vulnerable site. 
To GhostKid It has nothing to do with that and if it does, are you trying to imply that clan pages are going to get hacked if they don't run that particular mod?
To: rawrzz, it's sad that you may think that way.  This hacking doesn't just effect one person.

I totally agree. That being said. If anything else gets said here on this thread about pure faction. The post is getting deleted. This thread has nothing to do with that. Frankly (<--Mostly my name ), I am getting tired of many threads getting turned into a Pure Faction discussion(spamming). I am not blaming you Doc Savage. I wish the creator of Pure Faction the best of luck. Just like Lazyban 130, servers don't have to run it if they don't want to. It's not an official patch and many still might not trust it. If you don't like your favorite server "not" running. Start your own server and do what Doc Savage suggested on top and SHUT UP ALREADY!!!  |

I'm glad to see you actually want to continue your forums after being hacked. After RED Technologies forum was hacked, Trigger just didn't have the energy to make it right. If it weren't for that RED Tech would probably still be going strong. I hope that hacker gets what's coming to 'em. |

Well, when I was inclined to help before, I would've stated this, the support group over at IPB is no longer releasing 1.3Final patches to increase security measures due to "need for management of current amount of servers."
As you have even discussed in your 5th?(newest) forums hosted by InvisionFree services that you want to use phpBB, and were suggested this by "Web Professionals", then those that are advising you are ignorant beyond no extent. Security is not what phpBB is known for.
Purchase an IPB license or vBulletin if you are worried about security, and as Hermit stated that SMF would probably be the best free forum software, though you'd need an actual host, like 1and1.com(for example). |

Another forum software to consider perhaps: YABB.
It is written in perl, which avoids php vulnerabilities entirely.
Foxy, it saddens me that the LS forum efforts are sabotaged at every turn. |

Who has given me advice on what to do
I will have a look at what you Hermit have said here and now i understand what the msg is you sent me Frank :-)
As i said before i Don't know a lot about Forums as wolf used to see to this for me
But with him not being around or even on the net for over 5 months now I do need all the Help and advice anyone can give me
There are a couple of ppl (Friends) in <L-S>who know more about Forums than i do
so i will pass this info on to them because they will understand better than me what things like HTML/CSS means

It's weird. I was going through a few old screen shots I have and I found this. I didn't think I had ever played a game with you or against you. Worst of all, it was a CTF game. It's rare for me to play CTF. Good news is that we tied and we were in the same team.

Go look for good forum software, and make sure install that compleet clean. I mean
do not paste any old backupps into your new installation. I think L-S forum was dammaged
from INSIDE, by someone whith acces. Read also the installation instructions very carefully.
If you have acces to the database, where your forum is , delete the old database and create
a new one , whith only your ACCES before installing any new forum.
