Well, what's the scoop on UT3? A thread at Filefront says it's not selling well. Word is that unless you're running Alienware, you're not seeing the game Epic made.
I "matrixed" my way through about 1 minute of the demo, so I know my not-so-old rig can't run it. What are your experiences, mates?

Well you can run the game using a geforce 6600,single core cpu[P4 or the AMD equivalent] and 1 gig of RAm is necesseary. And no you you just need a decent graphics card,a gig of RAm and maybe run it in XP to play the game on max.yes it aint selling well,33000 copies aint so good. This is because of the bad taste people got when trying the demo.Epic also kinda messed up,there were not much advertising done so it,s Midway,s fault.
For me i like UT3,i dont care a sh*it about the UI coz i aint playing with the Ui,i play the damn game! The maps are good and the sp is what it does,it teaches you about the the gametypes in UT3.Epic never said that they were making a good sp.the voiceacting is good for me and the weapons fell good too me. |

i don't really know ... if its not selling well its because the game isn't on the shelves ... litterally
I can't find it |

Let's face it, Epic screwed up UT3 a bit. Mostly due to their Beta demo.
I can understand what they intended to happen, but the demo just gave people a bad first impression. |
Those who follow the path of others lack the imagination or courage to create their own.
In my spare time I like to write game reviews for Game Revolution. |

Maybe UT3 will die like Tribes:Vengeance?Maybe or not.Come on lets give this game a chance and put the blam on Midway the most censored publishers there is.Most mods or community projects come out in a month or 2 so give it time.UT games are like wine the longer the better. |

Yes, I agree with Duke. The demo gave me a HORRIBLE impression. At first I had to play this on my old PC, result: 10-20fps. Setting graphics down: 10-20fps. Actually, the settings you can choose don't have a big effect when your cpu is the bottleneck.
People with slower PCs will not get to enjoy the game, there is a very small hardware range that ut3 runs with because there are not enough video options like UT04 does have.
The demo does have those 2 DM maps...which I both don't like that much. The demo is really missing the warfare gametype. The VCTF was good...altough..it presented the same vehicles as in UT2004. UT3 has SO MUCH MORE to show.
I only bought the game because I wanted to give it a second chance, I "knew" that it was the failure of the demo why the game looked so bad. I've watched every trailer since years, I was so waiting for this game - that demo couldnt stop me getting it
All I can say...if you believe me or not..
UT3 IS AN AWESOME GAME. I extremly enjoy playing it.

Its a freaking GREAT game. The only downsides are: nixed a weapon, the canister gun; music is quiet unless you gets kills or take an objective; not to many gametypes, I would have loved to see Assault, original UT1 domination brought in; and number of maps, there arnt a whole lot of maps like UT2004's plethoria.
As for your rig, alienware? Hah. My comp is custom built. nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640mb, 2GB RAM DDR2, Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3 GHZ. The full game though is designed to work with lower end too. |

It does not work on lower-end PCs.
My old PC:
Athlon 3200+, Radeon x1650Pro, 1,5GB RAM.
Actually this is not what I would call low-end PC...it's mid range, but it still won't work with UT3. Lets face it they've done a bad job at the optimizing work.
Crysis works far better on slow machines because it has tons more graphics settings. |

Predalienator, you have the rig to run it 4 sure. Does anybody have a used Aware 4 sale?
My measly little Dual AMD GForce 6300 1 GB RAM is a no-go.
Redfrog and Duke are right. The demo sucks at low FPS, and it doesn't hook you like the UT demo did (anybody remember how cool it was?)
And no ASSAULT in UT3? what's that about?? |

Yep no assault or domination (even if it was UT2kX Double Dom...)
Only UT3 Gametypes are:
Deathmatch
Team Deathmatch
Capture The Flag
Vehicle Capture the Flag
Duel (1on1)
Warfare (Onslaught with more slaught in it )
I hope some mod groups out there bring back Assault and/or UT1's Domination. I loved that domination. |

Well if you look/looked at the UT2004 servers you'd notice that almost nobody plays "Mutant" (yes it was not mentioned here..but now it is )
Very few people play DOM, followed by BR and Assault is one of the big ones. DM and CTF rule all in UT2004.
Of course, this is not MY interpretation of the reason why those gametypes haven't been implimented, but I think Epics intentions basing on those facts.
People actually are being a little sad of the few maps UT3 has to offer (I'm not. one week ago, while playing singleplayer, I had to find out there are more maps that were unknown to me...VCTF and CTF. I'm not a fan of those both gametypes in UT. I think there are enough high quality maps (listing a few of the warfare ones..Avalanche, Torlan , Flooded, Dusk, Serenity..all great maps, you can see screenshots of them on unrealtournament3.com) and the community will produce even more of maps)
Now imagine there would be more gametypes, each gametype cause a lot of more work. |

I want to get UT3, but I dont want to shell out for it. I might wait for the Xbox 360 version... but I would prefer to get it on PC. According to the back of the PC box, my computer hits all minimum specs EXCLUDING Ram.
My Specs:
Pentium 4, 2.8Ghz w/H-T
512MB Ram
ATI Radeon 9600 128MB
120GB HDD, 320GB HDD
DVD-RW & CD-RW
From what you guys are saying Demo isnt worth it. |
