Yea, thats why I always like HL better then RF. I think its so much funner to actually HAVE friends in a game, then to meet someone for 2 seconds then they die. That jut makes it more fun, and realistic. I kinda doubt anybody could over run a whole entire mine filled with assassins and stuff whose only job was mining...but with a crew! So I just think it would be cooler if you had some people to back you up

Anything can be achieved in Red Faction. All it takes is some waypoint events, nav points and triggers to set certain ones off so that the character will move accordingly instead of them standing around doing nothing.

It has been done in Red Faction in Single Player when you get Griffin. He follows you at certain points. He waits a little, when you pass a trigger, he then follows a path when triggered.

Crowbar needs better textures.
I still hate the textures where the headcrabs are being kept.

The Textures have been extracted from Half-Life and are being used in the maps. Do not worry though, we will not be using all those textures in the Half-Life Faction mod all the time. Simply because the quality of those images are bad to begin with.

They were saved like that, and there is truely no way of remaking them more high detailed at all.

They stand as they are as to serve a purpose. That purpose is to make the beginning look like Half-Life when the residence cascade happens. After that, we will be looking at better textures.

Im sorry that the start looks sucky with those textures, but thats what we got to go with.

You could always attempt to make similar textures from scratch. Even if you can't get them to look exactly alike, I think it would be worth it for the higher quality. The average texture size in Half-Life is half of what Red Factions is... and these screen shots show that quite well.

It would take months maybe even a year to remake every texture in HL, and if u are making them alone it would probably take even longer.

Goober said the story would only follow as far as the test chamber. From there on there's no need to copy all of the textures. I'd estimate there would need to be about two dozen textures that would need to be recreated, max. You could always use default Red Faction textures if they have a similar look.

I am glad someone is looking forward. I hope everyone else is.

We have just been offered some help by Assman & possibly Doc Savage.

They are going to try and redo all the textures from Half-Life and make them more high quality. This means the levels won't look as bad textured as they stand now.

I hope it succeeds.

I have also been looking into something else on that matter. Currently for Source Based Games such as Half-Life 2, there is a mod being produced called Black Mesa Source. It is a re-creation of Half-Life 1 as it was meant to be made using the Source code.

Do a google search for "Black Mesa Source" for more details on that.

Anyways, to make the point of that random crap above, it just goes to show that there is also someone else willing to make HL more better than what was made by Sierra and Valve, using the Source Engine.

For me and Goober, we are making it in Red Faction with a whole new story so that people will not get bored of playing the same thing again.

Instead of getting making high Res textures why dont you just rip the ones from Half Life sourcetextures instead of the Half life ones saves alot of time also

Also looking at the CDC cant wait for this aye...Like the headcrabs
