Hey guys, Just recently I had to reformat my dads computer, He had RF installed and it ran great. But after we installed it and updated his video cards ect. every time he runs into a character the game has a lag spike (not litterly runs INTO one) and we already made it run for windows 98 and all that good stuff, anyone have any tips?

thanks

Do not update your graphics cards drivers . then the problem would of never happened .

I know its recommended that you update stuff, but you must think first "What old stuff will it affect?"

If you have old games or applications you still enjoy using, it is best not to update your drivers unless you absolutly have to.

Already asked, what OS do you use ? ,

If you run XP_Home or XP_Pro ( sp2 ) what ever , you do not have
to set RF running lower. RF runs FINE under both.

Your graphics card could cause problems.

Update's , aint mean better to what you want , or what you like..

DID, you check all settings in RF ?

RF multiplayer has always been laggy for me when there is an entity I can see.. But I've played pretty much strickly on dialup and also spyware never helps..

So on that note, I'd say check your internet connection ect.. Because It can indeed be a factor.

If you've added new hardware, that could be a problem. Dual-core processors and those with hyperthreading/transport have been known to cause problems.

Hes using windows xp and ill give defragin his hard drive a go, but he hasnt installed any new hardware, but he did however install new video drivers when he got his hd.... but he has always had the same card and never had problems with it..

i may be able to fraps it to show you how it lags... its more like it stops dead for a split second and goes back to running great... its wierd, almost like he never played it b4 and its getting used to new animations, altough he's been playing for a long time even w/ that lag

I have had multiple problems with RF under Windows XP. Majority of these come from my Hyper-Threading Processor.

Turns out RF just doesn't like it. If I create a server it doesn't re-spawn weapons so its a survival server! LOL.

It also goes Laggy which is what you are describing for entities. The only way I have solved this is by running it under windows 98 compatibility mode. Also something new that happens is that my controls lag out when running a server in LAN mode or singleplayer missions, online isnt a problem though.

Short story, run Windows 98/95 Compatibility.
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

Showing it through fraps wont be worth it. Fraps records at how ever fast your computer can handle.

If I go to record the big bad CENSORED games which require a great Graphics card, it lags while recording because my computer is doing more stuff in its memory to be able to produce a recording.

If you capture something, ill be damned!
