I finally bought everything!
NZXT Apollo (has included side LED and front NON LED 120 mm fans): $70
Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP $147
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180: $90
OCZ Platinum revision 2 x 1GB DDR2 800 (CAS 4, timings 4-4-4-15) $55 after rebate
XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition (NOT overclocked) $279
Seagate 7200.10 250GB SATA $79
LiteOn 20X DVD Burner, Lightscribe, SATA: $43
CoolerMaster Extreme Power 650watt: $39 after rebate
CoolerMaster Hyper TX2 cooler: $10 after rebate
CoolerMaster GeminII: $7 after rebate
1 x ThermalTake A1926 120mm fan (back of case): $10
2 x Rosewill White LED 120mm fans: $8
Tuniq TX-2 thermal paste: $6
I also threw in some parts I had:
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
1 x 120GB backup IDE drive
1 x 80GB Backup Drive
IDE card (if necessary)
Total: $843
Probably another 50 bucks in tax and shipping (i bought some of the stuff on Zip Zoom Fly where they wont charge me either of them).
This system will probably last me 3 years without any upgrades!
That processor is gunna get OC'd to about 2.8 ghz. With the GeminII, it should be no sweat!
And then I'm selling my old PC to my mom for about $150, and hopefully my X850 pro card on craigslist for about $50 (unless someone here wants it for some odd reason).
I'm also selling a firewire card, and a copy of Star Wars Battlefront 2!
So the computer only cost me in essence:
just under $650
Man did I do good! |

Well, aside from the processor I think it looks to be great. Great deal on the RAM though, I will say. OCZ Platinum's clock pretty damned well |

I will agree with Sobe, nice choice on hardware, Processor could be a bit higher, because games coming out are requiring 3.0GHz nowadays, so 2.8 is still below recommended specs, but other than that, good job! Very well done shopping around. I think I'm too impatient to shop around for good deals. JUST GIVE ME MY STUFF!!! |

Thank you for deleting my post.
What the hell is the point of this post?
Where is the question.
the deed has been done is an appealing title.
Now can i know why i've lost a few seconds of life reading that and why it is not in the other topic "help me choose a videocard" that is much more self-explaining.
Close and move to the other topic! |

No no Killer, not what I meant at all.
The processor is an redesigned Pentium series based off the Core2Duo, which for gaming is still pretty bad when compared to others(Still a good proc though, especially compared to most other budget chips). A Core2Duo E6400 @ 2.13GHz will handle more than perfectly the games you see that recommend "3Ghz". The 3GHz you see recommended is merely for the lower end processors, such as namely the Pentiums. |

Dude OCZ is like liquidating that stuff! They have it for $35 on newegg, its crazy!
The processor was low spec because for the increase between an OC'd E4400 and an OC'd E2160, the performance gain wasn't too appealing, so I bought the E2180 which is actually guaranteed to have an M0 stepping, which is guaranteed to OC really high.
Anyone interested in my old PC parts?
I wanted to sell it as a whole but I'm having trouble with that. Full price is listed below, individual prices are next to each item.
MGE Ninja Gaming case (with 1 80mm LED fan and 3 80mm NON LED Fans) $30, OR Combo'd with the Power Supply for $40
MGE 450 watt gaming power supply $25
Pentium 4 2.8Ghz processor with stock Heastsink and Fan $50, (or combo'd with the motherboard for $65)
Albatron PX915P Pro motherboard $30 or combo'd with processor, see price above.
RADEON X850 PRO (It wasn't included before but I bought a new graphics card so I'll be selling the computer with it) $50
512 MB generic RAM $15
2 x2 20GB IDE Hard drives $15 each, both for $25
CD Burner $10
3 port firewire card $10
Floppy Drive $5
Onboard sound $-
****Prices are ALL negotiable****
I'm asking about $160 for the entire computer together. If you would still like to bump the RAM to 1 GB, we can do the whole thing for $185.
HOWEVER, I am willing to part the entire computer out as well. I have put prices next to each piece. You may call me regarding a specific part and we can work something out.

Yes, but grabbing rebates instantly takes away your lifetime warranty with OCZ on your RAM. I never go for rebates on computer parts if they have a good warranty. Rebates void warranty ><
And don't think that when you get a good stepping it will automatically clock high. Some chips are called "golden chips/wafers" because they clock to unimaginable speeds, whereas with some other chips of the same exact stepping, don't clock near as high. I am pretty sure you'll be able to clock it without worries though.
Hope you the best for your new pc, as well as selling your old |

Wish I could Over Clock my Processor . Can't because my motherboard carrys "Smart Fan System". Makes your CPU fan quiet. Cannot disable this feature either, ive looked.
Cannot speed the fan up using any tools or utilities to keep my Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 @ 2.13GHz x2 cool enough to overclock.
Damn these pre-built computers! next time, im building it! |

Smart Fan System or Cool and quiet base on the temperature information the sensors are sending.
The fans will run faster when the temperature gets too warm.
Cool and Quiet / Smart Fan System does not have relation to the front side bus, you can always overclock your CPU.
The fan and heatsink you are using is just not good enough to perform overclocking.
And, you don't have to use the 12V output of your mainboard for your CPU fan. You can always use one of the cables of your harddrives (I forgot the name of it)
You will need a adapter for that though, which are cheap too.
Zalman Adapter 4-pin to 4x 3-pin

(this one is a 2x 12V and 2x 5V version , fans will run very quietly with 5V but not as powerful)
I have one that has 5 of those 3,5" 12V outputs... can now use lots of fans, and doing it
Also note that fans which need much power and are plugged to the mainboard can destroy it ..so you are always going the save way by attaching them directly to the powersupply. |

It's because you purchased a prebuilt that prevents you from overclocking, lol. Why do people assume they can oc anything <_< They have BIOS options locked on the motherboards to prevent damage so it stays within the warranty. |

yeah that is the truth, haha. you shouldn't overclock those things anyway, they probably get like a 15 mhz in FSB before you get freezes...
so anyone interested in my parts for sale? |

A 15Mhz increase is enough for a noticeable performance boost. My CPU speed goes up by 200Mhz with a 15Mhz FSB boost, it all depends on the CPU multiplier. |

So what is the best newest card for playing Red Faction and other present or future games?
Is there any other way to play Red Faction with Nvidia 8xxx series cards without needing to install Purefaction first??
Thanks! |

Nope, there is no other known way of playing RF without Pure Faction at this time... and I kind of doubt there will ever be one |
