Levels4You is changing soon, exact dates are still unsure but we're getting closer and closer 
This news post is just an announcement topic to let you all know of an important change that will occur on the site BEFORE we switch over to the new format.
As they say, out with the old... in with the new.
In order to keep the site running for that little while longer with the current system we're dropping 4 of the sections on the site.
Delta Force 2
Delta Force Black Hawk Down
Delta Force Land Warrior
Halo
These sections have the least interest on the site (both users and staff ie we have none for these sections  ) and all they're doing is taking up disk space. Something the site no longer has any of, hence the problem
These sections will be removed from the site on or around Sunday 1st May 2005.
Sections are now closed. |

While I was staff for Halo, it was the 4th biggest section on this site, it also has the biggest archive of files on the net. You may want to reconsider your decison or look for some more staff members.

Its a shame to be losing any sections of levels4you, but Im sure Garner will have made the right choice.
As for future sections; F.E.A.R would definitely get my vote, S.T.A.L.K.E.R also looks good.

I would think those mentioned, or they wouldn't get removed.
And I am with Diesel; if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and F.E.A.R. live up to the expectations, I would definitely vote for them to be hosted here |

I think its obvious the other 3 sections are the least used. No one is complaining with the fact we are losing those files. 
Halo, there are tons of places to get the files, at least this way we are freeing space for your favourite gaming website, and you will still be able to access the downloads but from a different website.

Im pretty sure that Red Faction and UT 2004 are 2 of the most used sections on here!
I just pray that day never comes where Garner decides to clear the RF directory. L4Y is the Hub for RF.  |

Sims will not be hosted here anytime soon (years... if at all), stop asking about it.
DF - we've hosted DF for years. DF 2 is internally known as 'game 2', it was one of the 2 launch games on the site.
It never picked up here though, the sections have been left behind once Blue_Fish/DG moved onto other things.
Halo - we may have a large repository of files here and a fair amount of transfer from it... but practically nothing in the forums. Same goes for a fair few of our other games. I dont like being just a file hosting site... I judge how well a section is doing based on its community here.
Based on that, I think we'll only have RF left soon
Besides, Halo went from a fantastic looking PC game to a fantastic XBox game and back again to the worst 'highly anticipated' PC game I can think of.

Yeah i dont want the sims on here, it would be out of place.
Be a shame to loose anything really but as garner said the space is getting low. Looking forward to the next L4y. and the new games whatever they will be.
Is the operation flashpoint section still used then?
I might be biased coz i hated that game |

I think that it is good to site the site moving forward. And getting rif of unused space, when it merely sits there, gathering dust.
Leaves room for newer, better games, with much more of a community.  |

Hey I think that anything that can potentially make this site better than it already is (and it's prety damn good) then I'm for it. If it means losing a few sections then do it. Anything for the better. |
