I was just wondering if there were any programmers among the l4y community. I have started C and find its not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. Well it hasnt been too hard yet.

Any of you guys do programming?

I know a small amount of Basic and C++, not enough to make anything that works properly, mind you.

C++... I know more than a beginner but not enough to really help people with it... enough to get me through mucking around with it.
Once you understand the structure all you need to do is look up the function names (assuming your IDE doesn't help you with that)

Reminds me. Need to install VS C++ 2005 on this laptop.

ive gone over some C++ as well, Had a hell of a time learning pointers. They are still a bit confusing.

if you want some easy tuts then you can go to http://www.cprogramming.com/

I know C++ to the extent of making some basic number manipulation stuff for UT2004. But thats about it.

Yeah I know of cprogramming, I found the tutorials a tad hard to understand, but that was a while ago, maybe i should have a look again.

But oh lawd, pointers are a royal pain in the CENSORED indeed.

I've been messing with C++ via Visual Basic and Visual C++ for college. I know a decent amount I suppose, but still a beginner.

Haven't seen alot of C++ lately, most of my coding at work is done in C as its mostly driver development. Only time I get to use C++ is in my coding at home, which I've honestly not done a whole lot of recently. Much like coming on L4y!

Do shout if you need a hand or anything, I've pretty much tried my hand at everything programming wise. Except template meta programming, which is like taking coding lessons from Escher

And as for my opinion of pointers, they are the most essential part of programming good performing code. (I'll include references in here as they are more or less pointers that the compiler dereferences automatically for you).

The biggest part of programming though, is knowing how to apply the language to the problem, the language itself is just the tool.

I have a wiki where I keep little coding snippets and links to some good resources, feel free to have a nose.
