Post 1 / 2 i have been a active member for over 6 years with you all and i have braut many new players and more to this community i feel i should NOT have to pay for this site as i do a lot of other downloading from other sites that i do not have to pay for also like filedownlods and filefront and gamestop i have also been members there also for years and i do not have to pay to get the files i want or need from them i am very upset that you have all of a sudden made changes to the fact that i have to become a gold member in order to get the files i want and or need to run my ut2k4 serve sence i have been with you almost from the start of your beggining and i am very upset that you now limit me to 75 kbps downloads and are now asking me to pay for your service i will not stop using you all but i will stop reffering you to others for your service as you will ask them to also pay for things that they can get for free faster from other services and i will not be telling anymore people about your site for this reason and if you all decide to close my account here for this i am sorry but you would think that for being a loyal member for so long would have its advantages but i guess not long time member aceofskys if you think i am kidding about my membership check your records i do not mind to pay something to help out with paying for the site but i am not hosting you guys nore am i gona i have to pay dues for my own site and forums also and webspace and my own server rentals also and dont mind a helping hand in doing so also i guess i am just mad that you all have started to limit me were as i was not limited before thanks for having this site for us all to enjoy and to keeping up with the files and mods i like to have at hand for my 2k4 server and ut99 server aceofskys aka william whitehead Assman15    Posted 24th Sep 2007 2:59pm Post 666 / 2085 Umm... Okay... File hosting isn't exactly cheap to run, and I think the prices for membership are more than fair. Not to mention that a standard membership is completely free. Why are there limitations on the standard account, you ask? What would be the point in upgrading your account if it didn't offer any benefits? Nothing. Aside from all that the best part about L4Y is free, the community. There's nothing different in the forums (except for a couple ads, maybe) whether your a gold member or not. The first year or two of this site's existance I would remember your username as there wasn't really that many people around. 2) This site personally costs me money to run. I do this for the community. You get it for free, I get satisfaction of running the place and watching it grow. Its my baby in a sense... 7 years is a LONG time! The L4YGold subs system is a way of offsetting that cost... I can no longer afford to run this place without such a system in place. As it grows... so do the costs. We've had a queuing system for a good 2 years now... and the speed limit for free accounts has been around for the last 6 months or so at least. I'm sorry for not letting you download at the speeds you want for free but that extra bandwidth is now reserved for those willing to pay for it. Afterall, the bandwidth is what costs the most money. I think thats quite fair... no? I'm not forcing anyone to pay for it, the option is there should you want to take it. Completely up to you. I wonder why there are always people that only want things but not give anything back. If I were a non-gold member (which I will be pretty soon.. ) I wouldnt complain about it. I'm guessing you're stating the fact you've been actively downloading files from this site for six years (even though your profile shows your currant account has only been active for two years). Actually 2 years is the longest time you can see in the profile. I registered more than 2 years ago but the registration date was reset along with our postcount 2 years ago when Garner installed the latest version of the site. Post 2 / 2 So there is an active forums here thought no one ever posted here well i guessed wrong then. I run and manage my own forums and website also www.asg.dfbutclan.com . I presantly run and manage 2 gaming servers also a ut99 and a 2k4 server the ut99 one has been around for over 3 years now and the 2k4 one for about a year and a half but the forums are new only 1 year old . I have been downloading and using you all for over 4 years at least that i know of . i know the cost of running a site and all and for anyone thinking i do not just go and check my own site out i have put many hours and many of sleepless nites into making it the site it is. i am no programer in any sence of the words and doing what i have done has taken me many hours of reading and trial and error If any one has had any problems and would like to know how i got some of the muts and mods to work in my servers feel free to ask me as i have been actively doing this for over 6 years with ut99 and 2k4 my msn is aceofskys@myacc.net Any how glad to see some one actively does post here and i am sorry but i just get frustrated when i have to wait for one file at a time and if one is really large then i have to wait even longer for the things that i used to get many at a time and no limits just a few months ago. ps greets to you all and thanks for your alls input as crossed as some of it was from some.
