so... i was wondering if anyone had a rough idea of the hourly downloads/uploads when running an RF server. i am thinking about running one from home every now and again but don't want it to drain all of my downloads.

If not no worries i may guage it myself. cheers

If u set up RF server , u aint have to worry about what ur download speed is for u , u should
worry about how the Rf server behave when player playing in it , and u go start downloading
movie's , music and so on. Olso it depends on how fast internet u have UP/DOWN stream.

Like Digital say , 1 mbit up can hold about 28 , or like here about 40 players in 8 servers.. I have
it stand alone, so nothing here uses any Ram of what ever ... If u run it on the same PC
as u work and download, upload than it could be hard to run RF server.

absolutely right digital_ruler i want to keep within my download limit. i have 30 gigs a month and don't want to have a too large of a portion to be taken up by this server. thanks for your input animator and my connection is 1.5Mb/s down and i'm not sure of the updoad...

i use all of my donwloads every month and even though it doesn't cost any thing extra if i go over, it's still nice to enjoy broadband speed throughout the entire month.

sorry about the slow reply digital_ruler, the 30 gigs is for download only. uploads aren't counted towards the limit. go internode

Quoting digital_ruler
I highly doubt you would use 30gb of traffic with an RF server, but I might be wrong. I can measure some stuff for you.

Those who are more mathematically-inclined than I am may be able to make some educated guesses.

There is a quit easy programm that count ALL up/down stream from the PC u work on. I
use it for all stuff i run , so could not tell u how mutch 1 server takes, i have several hundreds
gig up down month.

NETMETER , google it ...

But now the trick ....

If u have NETMETER installed , run 1 RF server , get it full whith players and
look how mutch it takes in 1 hour . Sure the server aint full 24 hours a day
but if u kno how mutch it uses 1 hour .. u can make some count s by urself.

If the RF server is empty , u have little up/down , its generated by the programms
run in the background ( thats normal ) .

I hope helped u little , if any question .. post here ill respond asap

I'm not worried about using the whole 30gb with the server. but i use the downloads for lots of other stuff and hate going over the limit and since i won't be around most of the time when the server is running, i don't want it to use a huge proportion of my downloads for say the daily average that i need to keep in order to stay under the limit.
