Actually i wasnt planning on burning dvds. i just get them off ebay. What i was trying to do was this.
I use veoh.com instead of youtube because veoh lets u download the videos u see.
So say i downloaded alot of videos and wanna put em on a cd. Well i cant because the files are in AVI format. So i wanted to format them to wma or watever it is dvd players use.

1. DvD players use DvD format; which is not a simple file.
2. You'll need a program (Like PowerProducer) to convert and burn them.

File type is irrelevant when it comes to burning DvD's. players don't recognize NTFS and FAT filing systems that computers use; like Goober said, you neeed a special program to create DvD's.
DivX to DVD is a program that will convert movies encoded with DivX to be playable in standard DVD players.
It's not free though, I'm sure there are many others, this is just one that i've used.
P.S. Still Alive.

I just did a quick yahoo search and found this program: Sothink Movie DVD Maker and it's freeware and it says it
Quote
enables you to create DVDs from your video files. It can automatically convert popular video formats and either burn them to DVD, using the included burning engine, or save them as converted video files. The program also includes a basic video editor to trim portions of a video file, and you can combine multiple files into a single movie. Other features include support for subtitles, output to DVD folders and more. NOte: The default video output is set to PAL, you need to change it to NTSC for use in the US.
I've never used it before but it seams to do exactly what your looking for and its freeware.
I know Nero let's you do exactly this, but then again, not free.

None of the burners I've ever bought have come with software. Never.
