I was wondering. Peopl always talk about making mods and then ppl will start playing red faction again. Instead of that, is there any way to hold a tournament mainly from levelsyou?
Before everybody contradicts me here, i'll explain a couple reasons why.
1. We can spread the word to people and clans.
2. We can hold either 1v1 tourn or 2v2 or clan fights.
3. To be able to join the tournament you have to register at levels 4 you. ( thus brining new members to levels4you keeping it further alive  ) Also it should help in communication to keep the tournament alive that way we don't cancel off the whole thing.
4. There are alot of people yapping about how they are better than each other and all that. well this is their chance.
5. I haven't even seen alot of tournaments happen. I did a couple times but they are based europeanish. Plus we have alot of ppl active in the rf forum so we should be able to rack in some ppl. Plus i bet people who used to play red faction would wanna come back.
Maybe its a bad idea that i just randomly made up. maybe it has some potential.. there are still alot of things to think about like the rules and all that. But rf is dieing by the months. we should do something in the meanwhile should we? what do u guys think |

I know that some folks really like team play. I won't deny that a lack of a tournament structure has turned some people away from RF.
I heard a rumour that a tournament is on the way. Hold tight naraku.  |

Hints at an upcoming tournament? If I might make a suggestion to anyone planning on starting one. I'd really like to see a team structure... For example, 3vs3 matches with prearranged teams.  |

Two problems with that:
1) Uneven settings are awful for tournaments.
2) One player on the smaller team dies, the big team has access to the big weapons. |

I just think all variables should be the same for all players in a tournament setting. Otherwise it's just a contest of who gets the better start. |

I'm interested in this idea... kind of... for more reasons than the bulk of the RF community know.
That's all im saying, But I've got to ask this:
How does a tournament (or more) HELP the rf community if its only accepting players from L4Y? Think about it. |

Sorry man, i believe u realy like RF , but the post u made aint fit to the threat ( name ) .
"Keep rf alive!" there is lot more than Tournements to keep RF Alive. Yes its cool to
have tournaments.. but than the problems show up.
U writed ( mainly from levelsyou? ). My opinion is NO not mainly from L4Y , cause
L4Y should keep his status to "HELP" RF in anyway, not set up tournaments.

Yes they where based on ( europeanish ) < ur words >
I am from Europe actually. Is there any differend between European or USA or what
ever country playing RF online RF = Worldwide, remeber that.
I love the idea to have a world wide tournament, but i love olso to make sure
RF original will be used ONLY . I have enouhg knownledge about RF ( i hope ) to
be involved building up any tournament.

There isnt much Teamplay needed in RF, except maybe rushing in enemy base with few other people. no medics, mechanics or whatever  |

If it's true, L4Y will not be able to make it differently. There are too many ways in Red Faction to cheat which makes REAL serious tourments impossible.
Altought, if there was a special tournament mod for Red Faction, which everyone had to use plus anti cheat software then I see a much better future.
IMO Red Faction is too cheatable to have any trustable tournaments.
edit. And FuryThor, I love what you are trying to do for Red Faction, keep it up

True, but if you have a weak member in your team, your own score can be affected negativly, and the enemies will have easier scoring.
We all seen it in all those TDM and CTF matches.. |

Do u play in ESL Goober ? 
To Redfrog / Ghostkid.. Team play is the hard part in RF , players that
play just for their ohwn frag count in CTF aint teamplayers. Trick is to work
together steal the enemy's flag . The winner in CTF aint the single players
in my opinion. DM, is just single player frag anyone u see TDM aint
team play either. Yes 2 teams , but there is no tactic needed at all. 
Back old days we had several world wide tournaments, but all off them
died cause somehowe players can't stick to rules in tournaments. As
mentioned "cheating" seems to be sport nr 1, and not only from 10 year
olds.

Trotskie has already got a very successful Anti-Cheat. Mind PMing me some details of yours? |
Discovery I made and posted some time ago relates directly to getting a permanent anti cheat method for current hole. It is near of getting ready... However before I put much of details out I want to test it, as my own testings gave green light, which means that I could not use currently most known cheating hole...
Reason why I am not releasing details in public yet is that I want complete all my test with pepole I know I can thrust without questions, and that my tool would work on MACs too...
This because my intention is to develop this anticheat method to be part of my "RF improvement" release which should ease modification makers getting some better quality for their mods. |
