lol, I'm waiting before I upgrade
True the Core2Duos are nice, but not as much since the cutback of early week E6600s. Since the E6600s stopped production, the E6550s are ok... But the overclockability on the E6600s were simply amazing. I was able to reach 4.2GHz(Still wasn't as far as it could go) stable on a VapoChill Lightspeed phase change unit, 2GB (2x 1G g.Skill DDR800, and eVGA 680i A1 motherboard all on a test bed. Testing the newly released Ex550 series chips I've only been able to attain 3.6GHz-3.9GHz.
Meh, I'll just blame Intel for messing with the dies in the wafers
As for laptops, buy something that will last. What Garner has is something that will last quite a while using DX10 as well. |

Yeah, you can skimp on a desktop PC as you can always upgrade the bits later... but you might as well get a decent laptop if you're looking at one purely because upgrading is rarely an option for them.
Looked at several brands... Alienware had worse machines for a lot more cash and Dell had an almost identical XPS laptop to this one for an extra 25% (£200) more than I paid.

As for your problem, Ghostkid you're going to be more specific than "it won't work." |
Well, i get the splash screen with an EA game, then screen goes black for about 1 sec, then crashes to dekstop, i updated drivers, deleted folders in my documents, removed video's, reinstalled, reseted, checked system requirments, going back to the shop to ask-without results..
so i gave up EDIT : Could Upgrading to vista help ?
Anyway, its a Toshiba, having a intel chipset. will post more specs if needed.
On a side note : What actually is good at overclocking ?
On another Side note : I recently bought an extra 512 MB liek you guys advised me, (to run Vista)
so now i should have 1024. but my computer tells me i only have 768 ? |

The problem is most likely your video chipset; laptops are rarely made with gaming in mind due to the fact that they're awful at it. Your video chipset is most likely Intel, which is one of the worst for gaming IMO.

If anything Vista would only make it more difficult to fix your games.

Overclocking is pushing computer hardware past it's recommended settings.

Your video chipset is hogging a good deal of it for itself. |

You can get a fairly good PC on that budget... But I'm not very educated on hardware specifics... Mabye ask someone like Garner or Sobe. |

Regardless of whether of not it's a laptop; if you have 1024GB installed and it's not showing all of it then your video chipset is hogging some. |

heh, I'd try to etch for something more from the 7xxx series era... lol.
7600GT is still a rather good "budget" gaming card buy. I purchased an eVGA 7600GT KO to replace a failing 7900GT, and... I am actually amazed at how well it holds up in games. |

The 7xxx series cards are excellent, just don't go for an 7800series, they had issues with their memory. Namely meaning leaking/failing memory. |
