I have run into a serious problem trying to texture any imported 3ds models in Max
because they don't come with textures.....
WHEN I IMPORT A 3DS Pre-ready made model into 3DS Max 4.2. It will accept the standard material I place on it (with the material editor (the ones with the blue
balls icons in the editor) and I can apply the material to the model.)
But it will not allow me to choose a green diamond bitmap texture
and 'Apply material to scene' , that option just greys out as soon as I try to select a
bitmap texture and won't allow me to apply it to the model.
I DO NOT KNOW 3DS MAX.
EXPORTING THE 3DS MODEL
Then when trying to export some 3ds models after putting the material on them
this is the result:
greenball.v3d 79.040 bytes - an object I made, the export worked
shap2.v3d 7,408 bytes worked for that
But with a pre-ready made model, I got errors popping up on all the nodes
saying the model has no textures
and then I find 3DS studio max after giving those errors
dosen't export the model at all and shows
rfdroid.v3d at only 48 bytes !!! So the export didn't work.
But then I'm not out of the woods yet, CCRUNCH.exe
then says it can't convert the object I made in 3D studio max
and tells me there's a problem with the texture.....
ERROR: cannot determine bitmap type in bm_read Header file for Medrust3.jpg
File: drojects/rf_pcvsdkbmpmanbmpman.cpp Line 1138
How do I texture a pre-made or custom model to avoid this "no texture" problem.
so that CCRUNCH won't crash out with this error.
Red limits breached?, Yep, (20,000 fces and its still going !)
