So here I am - running conversion mods in my free time. Went thru six of 'em no problem.
So then I try out this one {link removed} and it won't work - no matter what name I give the folder.
Obviously ghostkid got it to run. How did he do it? Anyone else got this one to work? lol |

I tried taking the spaces out of the vpp's name. That didn't work. Then I took off the "-7" out of the name, and I got it running.
I never had that problem before. Though I don't see a point in that mod, it crashed when I tryed to play single player...  |

OK. It looks like RF doesn't like spaces or dashes in a mod .vpp file name.
I renamed the file and it worked. lol
Wow. What an inconvenience.
Edit: OK - I have other issues with this mod. This thing is not cool in a bad way.  |

Yeah. That file should be removed at once from L4Y.
I have PM'd Frank, hopeful that he can eliminate it.
That conversion mod was intended as a cheat and slipped under the door for distribution right under our noses.
I believed you Colt Walker, I just didn't know which files they were. Now I finally found one. |

A while back you and I along with Lori had a lengthy discussion in the ModNoGhost server.
Perhaps, you don't remember. But I do.
You had mentioned that L4Y had server disrupting mods available for download.
While this mod in particular was not in a ready to cheat state, all it would take is a couple moments with VPP Builder and BAM. |

In regards to this... When you learn the basis of RF modding (not saying which area) you will know how to cheat if you wanted to... We hope you choose not to, but you will know how to.
Personally right now i could go and make ghost. I wouldnt, but i could. I think that when we are teaching other players and members how to develop mods we have to be careful and make sure they have the same mindset before we start teaching them the stuff that could be misused. |

When I examined this mod for the first time, there was a red flag in the fact that the .vpp file name was unusable - it had to be changed in order to operate as a conversion mod. The second fact was the performance of the mod itself - all the classic operations of a super cheat.
While this mod in particular, now removed, was not packaged as a cheat. It would take less than a minute to adjust it into a server disrupter.
If anyone encounters a file here at L4Y that has the action of a cheat - send me a PM so that I can examine it.
Also be aware that even if I recommend that a file be removed doesn't mean that Frank will do it. |
