i have an idea. i know this is way early to be starting to think about RFU5, but, since its the fifth in the series, it should be a big one. what if, insted of maps, we do weapon models. if thats possible, we could have each person do a weapon model, then for those who want to be appart of it, and can't do models, can make maps. maybe it can be some sort of setting, like Futuristic, then everyone makes futuristic weapons (each assigned to a certain model to replace) then the mappers can make some maps for us to run around with our new weapons. it may sound difficult trying to find someone do new weapons, but it can't be that hard. maybe some can do more than 1 if we dont get enough people.

just a thought...

I like your idea. but i also think this is way to soon to start thinkin about RFU5 or anything like that. And I do think that its hard to find that many good moddelers willing to participate. The idea is nice, But lets just at least wait until RFU4 is released before even start thinking about anything like RFU5.

Who's gonna teach me 3ds Max?

Who's gonna send me an earlier version of 3ds Max?

There's 14 weapons in RF (that I can think of, surely to be corrected by some nerd ), have we got 14 modellers?

I think it' a cracking idea tho, a new HUD and a new set of weapon models... WOuld be sweeeeeeet

first off..mmmhmm*clears throat...walks up to Romek...SMACKS HIM*...good to get that out of system is good idea..is bad idea.dunno if enough ppl know how to model for one,and dunno if the quality will be good enough for ppl to want and d/l which may result in a waste of time..either way it doesn't matter cuz RFU4 isn't even out yet!

lol, well thats why i said maybe some can do more then 1 model. and models dont take as long as maps for the most part. and i know its too early to start thinking about it and what not, read before u post

Awsome idea RoMeK.

For those people who dont have 3D Studio Max but still want to make a weapon, you build your model in RED and then export it for a Max user to prep for in-game.

how about instead of requiring a new weapon model...people just try and make a whole new look for RF. like instead of maps, we make mods(non cheating of course) you can either have everyone working on one BIG total conversion type(including maps), or have people work sepertely on different aspects of the conversion. but the converson will be themed. picked by the people working of course.

Well I'm not a nerd but I know for a fact [because im replacing each weapon in my mod] there's 15 of them. You can add more though

I'd be WAY happy to help out with a/some models

yes.in the file tab go to export as vrml i beleive. should be under the vpp option

File>>>Export VRML then under export type choose "3D Studio Max" then open 3ds max and go to file then import and find ur vrml

You dont have enough experience in RED then. Obviously it would be easier to model something in 3D Studio Max, but if you dont have it Im simply giving you an alternative.

Modelling in RED just takes more time.... simple make a big Air brush and then model your weapon using solid brushes.
