I opened up IE during lunch break to find this article on MSN: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19354827/
My views on this article:
1.) American doctors do not have a say on the world, which, is were video games go all around.
2.) Those that are addicted, well yeah, anyone can become addicted to ANYTHING
3.) Kids/Teens that get hooked and addicted, that is somewhat parents' fault since they are helping in shaping their lives and control them.
4.) Adults who get addicted; go, get, LAID
5.) This is also more of a gaming age and technological age.
Quote | "Dr. Michael Brody, head of a TV and media committee at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, agreed. He praised the AMA council for bringing attention to the problem, but said excessive video-game playing could be a symptom for other things, such as depression or social anxieties that already have their own diagnoses.
“You could make lots of behavioral things into addictions. Why stop at video gaming?” Brody asked. Why not Blackberries, cell phones, or other irritating habits, he said."

That Doctor mentions something that I have found to be a bigger addiction than vid games, the cellphone. Back in the States in places that I have been, 90% of the people I have been around have owned 1 or more cellphones. That includes kids as young as 5 and 6. CENSORED ? I could type up alot on cellphone, but I got to go eat and get back to work in 45min. |
