I question the claim of fastest browser...

HTML Performance apparently Opera is the worst... yet there is a visible difference here between Safari and Opera... with Opera being much faster.

JS performance... no way of really telling.

Application launch.

Well it took this PC about 3 seconds to fire up Safari. And about 0.5seconds to fire up IE.
Yet their data suggests its the other way around.

I hate the metal look Apple put on everything as well. Text looks odd, its like Safari has a built in bold on all fonts which impairs readability a bit.

Forward/Back buttons on my mouse do not work here... I'll put that down to beta.

Its also got the same annoying IE/Firefox 'you must resend form data to view this page'.

It does remember form data between forward/backwards... which is something IE/Firefox dont do so plus on that.

Doesn't use the standard RSS feed icon. Not really a problem... they've got one at least.

Doesn't cache pages, seems to be requesting pages on each view. Opera caches... I'd like to see the comparison of speed on that. 0.1s from cache vs about 2-4 seconds to load a page from scratch.

Overall... Opera wins. Safari is just another bloody browser I'll have to install to test with. I was happy with 3 browsers... 4 becomes a pain in the arse

Have realised one very good point.

I never have to turn on the Mac now to test in Safari.
Can finally bin that waste of space machine...

Thank the lord!

Planetary Command works in Safari 3 on Windows. It's passed the main test at least

I downloaded, tried, uninstalled

They claim faster launch time than Opera/IE/FireFox, yet it only takes me probably a literal 0.1s to open FireFox , 0.4s for IE, and Opera .06s. Took Safari about 2s to launch, even after a fresh boot.

Exactly... their times are all back to front.

I dont like it, certainly nowhere near as polished as it needs to be to make the inroads they're looking for. I'd use IE over it... and thats saying something.

Oh and so far in one day, security researchers have so far found 2 critical security faults (remote code execution), 4 DoS (ie crashing) flaws and 2 other not quite so critical faults.

I know its beta... but when you claim that 'Apple engineers designed Safari to be secure from day one.' there shouldn't be any security issues in it at all. From day one means from the very begining...

Yea, I'd agree with the IE use over Safari. Check this link out,
Safari 3.0 beta hit with six vulnerabilities within hours after launch
