Ok I know how to make 2 sky boxes work in unreal ed ...................but to the best of my knowledge this can not be done in RED.................................however I have created a persuado sky box and a real sky box for the map I am creating. now the effect is perfect one shows a night sky in a large cavern yet when you walk indoors and look through the windows you see a sunny sky...........................All would be fine except if you shoot up at the night sky it leaves bullet holes/rocket blast marks. this I can get over with the use of detail brushes etc.
BUT MY PROBLEM IS THIS:- Is there any way to stop the rail gun shooting through a glass texture..............if there isnt then I will have to scrap my idea of two skys in my map which is a shame as both give the illusion of moving slightly independant to the rest of the background as in a normal sky box
Well, Since we are dealing with RED. Things can get really boring... Although, i have a solution... sorta... If this map is SP then you will have nothing to worry about... if it's MP well. it could get buggy.
What you should do is make 6 faces and form them so that they would create a box if put together. Texture the inside of those faces with the new texture for the sky you want. make suer to make the overall size of the box that will be created by the faces is a tad smaller than the original skybox.
now, after youre done moving and sizing the pieces, you should turn each face into a mover, whenever you are in the place of the map that requires the alternate skybox just leave a giant trigger in that area that will trigger the alternate skybox pieces to move into place.
Sounds like a pain but it probably will work. if its MP then you will have to sorry about the map having the skybox constantly being triggered back and foruth... lol
Thanks for the reply ..............good idea ..................................but yea I am making a multi player map O well back to the drawing board lol ....................................................................the beauty of RED so versatile ...........NOT
