how much would it cost to get a processeser/graphics card to put that much into gaming?
blu-ray is MORE then worth it, theyre going to blu ray, remember with the transition from vhs to dvd, remind you of anything? |
Well, my CPU cost me a whopping $90 and the best ATi card to date cost me a mere $180. If my math is correct, that's less than $500. As for blu-ray; maybe it is necessary, just not for a few years still. HD-DvD's are another option, and those are cheaper (granted, not by much). Hard drives are still far more capable and cost-effective than any optical media to date.
How much RAM does the PS3 have; one gigabyte, two maybe? My PC is capable of up to 32 gigabytes. Yes that would be expensive, but I can still add more than the PS3's got for less than the cost of one (including the previously mentioned hardware).
You're not paying $500 for the console. You're paying $500 for a fancy movie player.
Edit: In response to you "proving" Xbox is the worst; It was the superior console a year and a half ahead of everyone else. Their hardware is a year behind everyone else... but their also a year ahead in sales. Basic economics. Learn stuff before you make stupid comments please. |

Quoting Halsfire | Quoting SpawnOfCool | i proved the xbox360 is the worst of the 3, price is the only thing keeping it above water, theres already a new xbox out anyway |
First off you haven't proved anything. You've just yelled at people a lot.
And second...what? "there's a new xbox out". There's the first Xbox and the 360....what are you talking about? |
Well he proved only the fanatics can defend the PS3
Also he is talking about the Xbox Elite (kind of like the Lite of the xbox360) |

Ok, not that I want to add fuel to the fire but these are my two cents, and its my Opinion.
Xbox 360 is ruling the nest. It has the most sales, it has the better selection of games and as far as I have seen is competing quiet nicely with PS3 for "Graphics" I mean not one PS3 game have i seen that I have felt blown away by. Xbox Live is a much better service too, its quick it has a strong track record which means they know what they are doing, it has Xbox Live Arcade too with a wonderful selection of games (Geometry Wars anyone? ) PS3 is a good console no knocking that, but I just dont think it has what it takes to claw back the massive advantage that the 360 has through time/games produced and some of the exclusives 360 has had, although Im expecting some of them to port at one time or another.
The nintendo Wii is my second favourite console out of the 3, its one im thinking of getting as it can play the GC disks, has a good back catalogue available already (or so I am informed) and the motion sensing is a real bonus. The only downside so far is I noticed a distinct lack of games on the Wii. My GF wants Rayman Raving Rabbits, and the only game I could really warrant buying from my information at this moment in time is Legend of Zelda.
I used to own a PS2. It was awesome, I also brought an Xbox during its later years but found the PS2 was better for game selection. However this time around sony have left it too late. I may be wrong and Sony will steam ahead and obliterate the rest. However I can't see it happening and im glad of that. It makes the market more fairly distributed and through that we as the gamers get a better deal. They compete harder giving us better deals and better quality products.
I wont be getting a PS3. Simple, price is too excessive to warrant me buying one right now, I don't need no fancy Blu-Ray DVD player, just like I don't need an HD-DVD player yet taa very much. I dont want to pay extra £££ for the Blu-Ray functionif im not overally sure im gonna use it. Don't get me wrong its excellent, but the bog standard Xbox 360 (Premium) is gonna serve me fine, and the game selection for PS3 is not good for me, I HATE MGS. I find it borish and just long winded, although I did like the idea of having a box.
Oh and I know the PS3 has Resistence or whatever it is, sorry im not interested. I am happy to stick with Huxley when it comes. *Drools*
On a slight side note, has anyone noticed something about the hype (in the UK at least)?
Xbox 360, Huge launch campaign, I heard tons and tons during its launch period and also for the following months, now adverts have died down a bit but still get some.
PS3, only seen 1 advert and it wasn;t that great. sony missed the marketting boat this time around IMO.
Wii, Great advertising campaign. I hear about Wii this or Wii that every week. Also they still sell out within a couple of days.
Advertising Campaign
Run up to launch: Xbox360 is winner.
During Launch: tough call, 360 and Wii.
After Launch: Nintendo Wii is the CLEAR winner.
Edit: Sorry for long post guys. Im not a man of many words normally.
Quote | do you see any hddvd movies out? |
Hate to argue, but Yes I do. I have seen a fecking TON of HD-DVD movies out. HMV has a large selection and gamestation has a small selection of them too. BUT they also have a selection of Blu-Ray. Gamestation has about an extra unit of Blu-Ray (Guessing 20 films) HMV has a larger HD-DVD selection (guessing about 40-50 Films). |
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:
