Ok, not that this is a serious matter or anything, I was just curious... actually I was just bored and wanted something to do.

I like to stick with my player name "Kiliad of Oz"... note that's one l and 2 i's in Kiliad lol. People know me immediately and I don't have to exert my brain to come up with another cool name lol.

Why is it that so many people CHANGE their player names???
I'll be playing away and someone will join and say "Hi KOZ" and I'm like... "Hi.... who are you?"

I was going to start a poll on this but the options don't allow long sentences so here are some possibilities that might related to people here.

1. I'm a rebel and don't like being tied to one player name.
2. I'm an amnesiac and can't remember my player name.
3. Some people don't like me so I hide behind other player names.
4. I'm such a great player that noobs leave a game when I join so I need to go incognito.
5. I haven't found a cool name like Kiliad of Oz that suits.

So, if you're an habitual name switcher, what's your reason?

In all seriousness, it's a combination of options 1 and 4 (so you might want to make an option 6 for it): I don't like staying to one name and n00bs will immediately challenge me if I'm in on my other name.

No joke (although the following could be considered one, one day some n00bs decided to all change their names to mine, and I felt sad. Killing people isn't so fun when it looks like suicide (imagine, all the n00bs slain and every name pops up as yours. Rather depressing how suicidal I was that day, lol).

So, how's about an option 6: N00bs copy my name so much I change so that others know me?

I have always been, and always will be Grim Reaper. Whether I have my clan tages (<L-S>) or my original prefix (RF) in front of that there's no difference. T'is me

Seriously, my choice would be [if I had a real choice] have to be number 5: I haven't found a cool name like Kiliad of Oz that suits. In fact the name I use doesn't suit me, it insults me. Oh wait, it's not the name that insult me, it's the other players that do that when I join in. I think I might of started that trend, so don't be angry with the world.
As far as the name change, some players rather not let others know who they are and they know who they are.

BTW I almost forgot, I have been told by some server that others have used my non-legal name while cheating. I tell them if they ever see them and they are cheating, it's not me. Go ahead, ban those pathetic losers. The following day, I was banned. I guess I forgot to tell them to only ban them if they were cheating and not for being losers, which why I think I got banned.

All of which im pretty sure are referred to me only ...

i had a name before back when i first had red faction, but i kept running into a guy who had my name ...

so i let him have it, no one knew me personally anyways ...

Frank, you can never change your name now, or your avatar either. You're stuck with them for all eternity
Actually, anyone who has made maps is probably going to want to hang onto their identity.... unless their maps are really crappy lol.

Ghostkid... at 40 you can be GhostGuy... and later GhostGramps.. umm and later... GhostGhost? lol

I'm always D2k. except on that rare occasion I will change my playername to something silly. It won't be for long though. Love me or hate me i've nothing to hide. Although sometimes i'll have to be D2k204 because of stupid name limits on games nowdays.

Hmmmm i was ph34r when i first started online gameing.

That lasted a year or so then i got Lord Seafood (some of you know the reason behind that) which i still use today with my USA/RF friends.

In games after RF im known as Mr. Crow due to my real life nickname being Crow, i made it Mr. Crow because in the UT series his is the only name said by the announcer.

Now im known on IM's as Mr. Crow AKA Seafood.

Thats bout it unless there are unusual circumstances, I once went undercover in Viper3 with a good friend of mine, and tried to find out why someone was on the "to ban on site" list. Was funny i ended up getting banned 5 times in a row as I told them i was that person. Occasionally use Toren Renne if im trying to play without chatting (Extremely rare).
Trying to find old players. Anyone about? Drop me a PM or reply to this thread:

Well some people certainly have a lot of history behind their player names. I found the word Kiliad in an old dictionary many years ago when Commodore 64's were still popular. It was the name I always entered in the the high scores.

Kiliad is a Greek word also spelled chiliad.
