Ok, this is really bugging me.
The red spot texture shown below is giving a tearing effect when viewed at certain angles. I've had this trouble before with 8bit bitmaps (256 colors) but this is a normal 24bit tga.
Anyone have any iodea what's going on here?
And yes, I am absolutely certain its 24bit.
It only has one light in front of it. No other textures in the map are doing it.

I don't think the texture characteristics have anything to do with your problem.. I think all textures "tear" when they're not arranged well enough.. I really can't tell alot from the screenshot, But If I was guessing Id have to say you were using a solid face brush which is very close and parallel to the wall.
Not sure wether or not your texture is supposed to appear semi-transparent, But It looks that way, That could very well be simply because of the "tearing" which is occuring.
But my experience, Whenever a texture acted in such a way.. I would use a different brush method.. Which usually changed the result.. I can near gaurantee you.. If you are in fact using a solid face brush.. Then make it a full cube brush.. And I'm quite certain that would show you results.. Other than that, Personally I prefer to use air brushes which will give you the best order of arrangement.. It will just assure you that no textures are behind it.

Its not a face brush. I hate using those varmints cos they always give me a lot of trouble. There are other textures placed in a similar way and they aren't tearing. Its sending me loopy!!.... ok, loopier!

If all your brushes are good except the one in question.. Then attempt to use an air brush instead of solid.. as result, you will not have the texture behind it showing through it.. because there won't be anything behind it. (or at least I would imagine so)

Problem solved.
I just made the brush a bit thicker so the textured face wasn't so close to the main wall. I guess being almost flush to the wall was confusing it a bit.
Now that I'm back into mapping, I seem to be encountering issues I never did before.
