stupid microsoft has bugged me for the last time 
just wondering if i need any special program or if it will run all by itself? |

Just curious, but what exactly has happened? I'm pretty sure you'd have run into the same problem if using Linux.  |

hmm where to start. first off in the past five mounths olone i have hade to reformat and reinstall win xp sp2, once was because o a virus that would not leave, another was because Internet explorer 6 craped out, and when i tried to fix it i axidently deleated the wrong part from my registry, and another was because the second reinstall failed i can't explaine that one. but most resintly it seams that every other time i boot up my pc Win xp sp2 fails to load my display drivers, and there is of corse this thing with internet explorer crasing for no reasion. and at lest once every hour windows will send a signale to my dsl modem causeing it to reset it self, is geting really anoying. i have three pc's in my house and my dsl modem only restarts when my pc is turned on.... how ever when i booting the linux fadora live cd this never happend once.
now out of every thing i just mentioned the modem issu is what i caused me to say good by to windows. |

Hmm. Seems like it might b time for you to switch 2 Mac. Never had those problems in over 15 years of using macs. Never had a virus or spyware and reloading the system software is just unheard of in MacosX.
XP can work but you have to spend lots of time keeping your virus defs up to date etc. As for me I just want to use my computer not spend all day trying remove viruses and spyware. |

RF runs so smoothly on Linux that you are going to question yourself if it actually isn't made for Linux.
In my case, RF became faster, pings in my server lowered, and overal ... RF just became faster with everything.
Try Cedega, They have a free version (ain't sure if they still have it, this company is a real CENSORED and a payed version. Or if you don't wanna spent your cash on these money wolves, it's not hard to find without actually purchasing a copy 
Windows XP is the biggest crap I've ever run .... Yet I'm running it on the moment because it's the most stable platform (Only other choice is 2000) that supports the most applications that I need (Win. Server 2003 doesn't support the things I nowadays need). |

well i'd be the first to agree thats mac's are the better choice, how ever i have lees then no money to speak of and linux is free. that and i'v never really liked the mac's the new mac os x is much better but still. and besided not all pc games will work on a mac. i have at lest 100 or more pc games.i only know of at lest ten that will run of the make. and i was (key word is was) under the impresion that linux was in the same boat. after googling i have found out that with a little programing knowlige (which i dodn't have... yet) and or emulators you can make/force any game to work in linux. now knowing this and the fact that i am one broke mow fow linux seams to be my better choice now if i only new which one i needed? there is lots of linux to choose from  |

Not to sound rude or anything, but all of those problems sound as if they're your own fault. Bad display drivers? Update them. Deleted a registry key? Maybe you should have done more research first. The modem problem? That's not Windows, it's probably a fault in the modem software.  |

yes the registry key was my fault. my mouse had jumped up one line and befor i noted it i had right clicked and hit delete. and my nvidia driver are up to date as of november 11, unless there is a new one that i do not know about. my my dsl modem i a Virzon roughter/modem. it can suport up to four PC at one time and the only time it ever resets it self is when my pc is turned on. in fact i am rambleing right now becaues i am weighting for all the light to tern green again. |

I agree with you assman. 80% of the time, it is the users fault to cause errors. dude you said you got viruses when you had xp. now what were u doing at the time u gained this virus? only place i can think of that u can get viruses these days is either crack sites or porn sites |

well if this helps i am i 25 year old single virgin male  however the virus i got was from gamewinners.com this about five months ago. and i was not the only one to have got a virus from that site, i beleave thay have sence cleaned it up.
and as far as knowing if linux will run on my pc. i have been tring out diffrent live cd (live cd is a cd with a bootable operating system on the cd. nothing instals on your computer so nothing gets changed) so far i'v narowd it down to three versions. fadora, ubuntu, or gentoo. problem is each one hase somthing i like or dodn't. good news is once i realy learn some programeing i can take all those things i like and make my own operating system, you heard me right i said "make my own operating system" linux lets you do that. now with that in mind, this is why there are no viruses writin for linux. no two linux sorce codes are eaxactly alike. |

And every one wonder why peole hate microsoft. i mean come on the most user frendly stable OS there is....... anyway to fix your problem you need ro reformat your hard drive this way there is no windows anything left so xp does not detect a prevous install. and it should install with now problems after words... however at this point i dodn't see why you would want it
By the way what versio nof xp do you have home or pro (nobody tell MS but i have xp pro ssshh it's a secret ) |
