I have been seeing more and more threads around the internet concerning tweaking our beloved RF game. Each thread over time gets closer and closer to revealing the absolute methods by which one can cheat.
So now I am going to ask everyone: do you want to show everyone how to cheat?
There is nothing wrong with running a tweaked server but telling everyone how you did it will allow clients to rampage thru normal servers and disrupt them.
Why do I care? CENSORED - I run a server. So knock it off. |

Are you refering to threads talking about server side mods like ammo tweaks and weapon changes or mods like X-Mod and RFHD?
The server side mods i can see there being a problem, discuss that in privite...
Mods like X-Mod and RFHD do not reveal any cheating methods though...
Im a bit confused  |

Only if they are beautiful married women. That way I have a crack at that as*.
As far as cheating(I've typed in as two times, three if you can this one) In Red Faction...No I don't want everyone, just the cheaters and they should only play on their own server.  After they do they will loose interst in the game with non-cheaters and start playing with by themselves.

their problem. Cheaters have been present since the very first year after the release of RF and somme have stayed cheating in that now obsolete game. There are cheaters in any other game too and they surely will find a place where the method to cheat is explained.
I can hardly imagine players coming now to RF and realizing it would be funnier to cheat.
Those who cheat now have probably been taught to, a long time ago. |

So true, molodiets.
But for the posterior posterity of our reputations we gotta clamp down on the secrets of RF. After all, future electronic-archaeologists will find the traces of our presence - and what legacy of us will they find? That we were primitive shriveled cheats with pale clammy skin and enlarged photosensitive eyes?! Or will they see us as honourable and stoic noblemen worthy of historic preservation?

Yeah well, I am aware how cheating works, but I won't reveal it for sake of RF community.
As you are aware of my project "rf_sdi" I have been trying to figure howto end cheating for good. And I have created atleast somekind of solution. However to proof the results I would need to run a testing server which is not possible at the moment as I do not have machine where to run the testing server software.
So when I get this tested and confirmed I could officially shout "Cheaters are hereby : Punk'd and Banished forever" However it would need a minor new patch from volition to make it permanent...
And onlyone who I could reveal details of archivements is Hapa Hanu  |

Biggest cheat I know of.
But like you say, people have to be careful about explaining mods. We dont want people minigun-pistoling in every damn server.

We could of course try to make it harder for people to cheat in Multi by telling them to cheat the wrong way. For example:
Question: How do I cheat in Multi player, I'd like to fly around, and be able to fly trough walls.
Answer: select your ui.vpp and press Ctrl + Delete, Now open up Note Pad and type NoWall-Violution-MP-Cheat, and save that as your new ui.vvp Good Luck! |
