Not sure if this belongs here, but it's the best place I can think of and it does involve RED.

Anyway, I'm having some trouble with a texture I remade for a map I'm working on. When viewed in the map itself, it has these weird lines going through it when you look at it from a distance. When you walk up to it though, the lines dissapear. It's not supposed to have these weird lines in it at all, and it doesn't happen with any other texture I've made in the past.

The old texture didn't have this weird problem though, it just looked like crap (which is why I had to remake it). I remade it from the same image with a cut and paste job, so I don't get why it's doing this.

Any idea what's causing this and how I can fix it?

After close inspection of ur textures, I see what the problem is...

If you are using Paint Shop Pro to create these images, you will find that those lines are put there because PSP cannot resize properly.

Ive tried many things to resolve this issue and I havent found one yet. It puts grey lines around the outside of the texture which is a pain in the butt... Somehow you will have to delete this extra line of Pixel to solve it. Im unsure how because I believe its the default background image for PSP when no image is displayed.

I would recommend trying a different program like Photo Shop.

If you do not use Paint Shop Pro, then you leave my clueless.

Paint Shop pro uses a different compression for TGA then other programs so i suggest u resave the texture using photoshop

I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to save all of my images in targa format and nothing has been resized (in PS or RED). I've looked at the image many times and those lines aren't actually there. The only place they ever show up is in RF itself when you play the map.

No clue what's going on but it's really starting to agrivate me. >_<!!

About 5 people have seen the map so far, including myself. Only two people can't see the lines (Lord Seafood and supermetalknuckles). If I can't figure out what's causing it and how to get rid of it, I might just have to use the crappy texture instead. Such a pain. >_<

I notice them

They have a shiny tinge around the edges of them like a decal that stretches.

I was able to get rid of the white outlines by have a pixel width border of transparency ... but think of that as replacing the white with black. In other words still ugly.

How big are the textures? try not to go over 512x512.

This particular texture is only 128x128, actually.
But yeah, Lord Seafood sees em too. I guess supermetalknuckles is the only one of us who doesn't. Wonder if it's because he uses a MAC and it's coded differently?
