Rail Arena maps though are really easy to make ...
but VCTF are the hardest to make since most of the levels in RF are too small for vehicles ... so we have to really think hard to make something that matches the game RF.
personally i still don't think im good enough to finsh the map ... i can do brushwork well, static mesh placing ok, terrain editing ok, and lighting ok ... but i still don't know jack about the details of UED ...
i am really finicky about releasing maps ... i will only release them if i think they are great ... not good ... great ...
but MarsWars need more maps ... and im having a big issue trying to get myself to complete the map because i already think its nto that good ...

Thanks RedFrog for the quick reply, and that's a bummer that it's going to take that long for the phone company to come out, but it IS the phone company, they suck, *just like the cable company* Well, hope everything is going alright and I say this for the rest of us, we all can't wait for v1.1!!!

i got an idea yesterday and started working on a rail map ...
basically, it was going to be a mountain (with a small flat top to fight on with drop offs and ledges so that when people fall off the top or their body gets blasted off, their body bounces for about 2 min down the mountain .
but i my idea quicky turned into a failure by UEDs inferior brush system ...
i guess i could have imported a flat topped mountain static mesh but i don't know 3D max and i don't have it either ...
if i did the body would slide down the hill ... i want it to be jagged cliffs and steep droppoffs.
i think that if i use terrain it will look like a really high mound and simply not that cool ...

Terrain can be pretty jagged depending on what tools you use. For example, make the hill steep by using the flatten tool on the top area, you can make the slopes almost completely vertical.

I have been playing with the terrain to get the feel that i am looking for ... but i still haven't quite got it
Also i was playing with some designs for the top ...
I was thinking a cylindrical base at the top with multiple layers of different sizes that go up or down (think a very elaborate treehouse that is made of many different platforms, right on the tip of a large jagged mountain)
I will make the platforms completely open with kill zones under them ... so if you fall off, your body goes bouncing down the mountain .
